After the only pair of jeans I have got a hole in the knee and I could no longer wear them to work or to see my mother, I had to face the inevitable: I needed to go shopping for jeans.

Now, in some things I am a stereotypical girl. I like to shop. Sometimes. There are things that I like to shop for, and things I hate shopping for. Here's a breakdown:

Like: shoes, formal dresses, office supplies
Hate: swimwear, jeans, feminine hygeine products

Swimwear and hygeine products are obvious, I think. Jeans, on the other hand, might not be. So let me enlighten you, oh dear reader.

Women's jeans are an enigma all by themselves. From fit to sizing to price, they simply make no sense. When men need jeans, they head to the nearest store. They walk in, get a pair that has their waist size and inseam printed on the tag, pay, and leave. Simple. An experience that lasts 15 minutes at the most. If you're a woman and want jeans, however, you might as well pencil in an entire day. Or maybe two.

Being fairly short, I have to deal with waistlines made for very tall people that come up to my boobs, and inseams that are at least 4 inches too long. My best friend is fairly tall, so she has to deal with all jeans being way, way too short. I generally try to stick to the "boy cut" style to work around my problems, while she prefers "straight leg" jeans to solve hers.

10. Word...
I have a fat butt and a small waist... finding jeans that fit is nightmarish.

Finding waders that fit hasn't happened yet.

7. You only believe that . . .
because you haven't seen the exquisite white linen hip-hugger palazzo pants I bought in Italy last summer.

8. I like capris
I've been wearing them all summer and I wear them to work too. Because they're short anyway, they don't have to exactly fit at a certain length like pants, yet they're long enough to cover the ugly part of my legs.

9. I wear pants all the time...ALL....dresses? Maybe 1% of the time...
Mostly I wear the sport knit pants from Lands'End...They are extremely comfortable, they FIT very well, and they have pockets...These are a feature that I discovered during our house construction...I'd stick my driver's licence in one pocket, my car keys in the other, sling my camera over my shoulder, and off I'd go...to bug the contractor!

In the summertime, I wear these little divided skirts...knee length, again with pockets...They feel great, look good and I love 'em!

I have never worn jeans...too stiff, and problems getting fitted, as the poster upthread talked about...
