The young man we took in needs a good shake.

He talks about joining the military all the time, and he has no problem at all going to fight in Iraq.

He said, "We got attacked, so I'm going to go fight."

I said, "Iraq didn't attack us. That is a Bush lie!"

He said, "Well, if he tells me that Iraq attacked us, then I'm fighting Iraq."

I said, "Even though you know it's a lie?"

He said, "Yes."

Apparently this makes him "patriotic."

1. the boy needs to find the truth himself.
I guarantee you there is nothing you can do to make him see that. I'm deeply sorry though.

2. Ugh.
I'm tempted to say 'let him go'.... I don't know how you get through that kind of illogic. Sit him down for a viewing of F9/11, if he'd watch it? Hugs to you, MM  Good luck.

4. Better yet, take him to a local VA hospital
and let him see the legacy of war for some of the lucky ones first hand.

(lucky as in a sarcastic manner...lucky to be alive but little else)

6. I say let him go.
Serious! A lot of people who disagree with the war are getting sent...why not let someone who wants to go go?

7. Go get that 11 year old girl to toss some rocks at him
that ought to clear his head up enough.

What an asshole.

8. Stupid is as Stupid does....
My family contains many adopted people. I am sad to imform you the average gene pool of the material available is substandard and damaged on average. (Adopted myself)

The cure is to understand both healthy people and the source of your own insanity by contact with birth parents if possible, or at least some knowledge of them. "if I wasn't here, I would be X"

This way the person can at least understand where certain idiotic tendencies come from and can learn to choose the correct path and not the idiotic one. Assuming they can live long enough to get there.

9. Tell him that doesn't make him patriotic,
it makes him a serf.

Then tell him to look it up.
