Radon mitigation works!
Edited on Fri Nov-07-03 09:59 PM by DemoTex
When we bought the mountain house, it came in at a very high level for radon in the basement testing (12). We required the seller to mitigate. It cost her about $1400. The mitigation involved drilling a 4" hole in the basement slab and running 4" PVC pipe up, throught the roof, with an in-line constant fan. That puts a suction on the area below the slab.

The new basement tests (two, 18 inches apart) came in at 1.9 and 2.0. The EPA warning zone starts at about 4.0. Of course the basement is unfinished, and when we do finish it, it will be two guest bedrooms only. The upper house has, presumably, much lower radon levels.
