DU does LA - the world will never be the same again!

OK, I've had a few too many, even though I was among the first to leave... just want to give a quick wrap-up of our evening at El Coyote.

Booberdawg got there a little before six, with me following shortly thereafter. I think it's important to note now that Booberdawg does not have a Midwestern accent, but even if she did, there are worse things in the world than talking like Frances McDormand in "Fargo."

Soon the place just filled up with amazingly cool DU'ers. Now I'm going to forget about 30 people now, but I spent much of the evening with PeterH, Booberdawg, nothingshocksmeanymore (and her breasts of mass destruction - keep your glassware clear of NSMA and me!), Capn Sunshine, BeHereNow, Dove Turned Hawk, devilgrrl, villager, David Zephyr, emillereid (and Jim!), gingersnap, truthseeker1, Snow, kerrysissues ... OK, it's starting to all blur together now. Like I said, I had a few drinks and I'm somewhat wasted. I did get some pretty amazing photos - must run off tomorrow to get them developed!

I'm sorry - I have not truly forgotten any of you, I'm just bleary-eyed. Let's all chat about this tomorrow or some other time this weekend. I'm so glad that PeterH finally got his dinner - two of them, in fact! Oh, yes, all is good in the world, and now I'm watching the end of Sunset Boulevard, right when Gloria is coming down the stairs. "What is the scene? Where am I? ... You don't know how much I have missed all of you ... It's just us, and the cameras, and the wonderful people out there in the dark ... Mr. DeMille, I'm ready for my close-up." Somehow it seems very appropriate for me now.

What a feat to organize--all us LA DUers complaining about traffic and parking and whatnot. But it was a great night out and I got to talk in depth to Ms. & Mr. Tikki, Snow and Mike Savage and others (bit blurry on name tags now too, plus a lot of them fell off/got covered up as the night wore on). We should do it again!

Those drinks were doubles?? No WONDER I got so snockered!! I feel amazingly well today for as snockered as I was when I left there.

Okay, okay, no sense in covering up for me - I apparently have an accent. What's funny is the first person to tell me this was a gal that took pity on me and followed me outside when I accidentally lit up a smoke in the lounge about 45 minutes after I arrived. Someone had a cow and I jumped up and went outside. She told me I sounded like Marge in Fargo. The thing is - Minnesota and Iowa are rivals. x( But that's okay - so I have a Midwestern accent. It just seems funny to me because you folks don't seem like you have accents to me.

Thanks for helping me out with my camera Peter. I do know how to use it, I was just having too much fun to take pictures. :D And I was getting drunk :D We got several pics in the lounge too as people were arriving.

I don't think it's possible to meet a DUer that you don't like. What a fantastic bunch of folks. I couldn't begin to do everyone justice. I think I did get a chance to chat with everyone.

It may be a couple days before I get the pics up. Not sure if I can do it on this PC at all.

So, Thursday my dad asked for a quick tour around DU website and wondered how I was finding the messages for this party. I did show him around a bit and had to do some FAST CLICKING into Latest News Forum when I saw "How many times have you faked orgasm" pop up in the Lounge. :eyes: I was just sure there would be a "Is it okay to shit in the shower" close behind.

But, I'm having some fun with him over this being kidnapped by a cult teasing. When I came back from LA today, I walked in the door and announced - DON'T PAY THE RANSOM! I ESCAPED! :evilgrin:

Somebody just pick a fricking bar that has parking and a patio for this Iowa girl that thinks it's cruel and heinous to go to a bar and not smoke so we don't take a week going in circles over where to meet.

BTW I have pics downloaded but they are as much as 600 to 700 kb each and I'm afraid this thread would take forever to load if I posted them. I can't figure out how to reduce them. I can do this at home. Any suggestions? How do you do this in the picture software?

The pictures turned out great! I didn't get one of everyone though. Hope between us we got everyone covered.

Get a copy of IrfanView....it's free, it's excellent, and it's not a photo editor but it'll sure let you shrink those suckers. I'm assuming you're using your parent's compy & they won't mind.

I met my cousin last night that lives near El Coyote in Hollywood. He and his wife were here in San Diego for the weekend. They mentioned that El Coyote where we partied is where Sharon Tate had her last meal before she was murdered by the Manson Family. spooky!

My cousin Joe and his wife noted that I have an accent. :eyes: He, like my father and wife, were born and raised in Harrisburg, Philadelphia - now THERE are some accents!
