Annoying people with bad manners!!!! (or an evening downtown)
UGHH!!!!

Why, oh WHY can't I just ignore these kind of people? They just ANNOY the heck out of me...

Like, when you go to a cafe outside a nice theatre, can you please leave your legs and feet OFF the table? Like when someone wants to have a nice glass of wine or beer with a snack, do we also have to get whatever's been picked up on your shoes on our food? :eyes: Gee, do you put your smelly feet on your mom's dining room table???? Why here, doofus??? Show some class already, dickwad. :(

Also, when you double your less than 2 year old child on your bike( if that ain't bad enough, the kid sits on your lap,not in some special child seat, AND with no helmut)
in the middle of a crowded sidewalk, could you please like move over and try not to kill me AND your child? :eyes:

When you scream at one of your dorky stupid friends in your voice that could easily been mistaken for nails grating on a chalkboard, can you PLEASE not use ME for a megaphone????? :eyes:

Sorry, just ranting..... and don't get me started about cell phones...

1. I'll pick up where you left off about cellphones...
Why is it those who use them in restaurants, stores, offices...etc. think we all want to hear what it is they have to say. Please just go outside, or better yet, go away.

To carry on the rudeness theme. We went to see Pirates of the Carib the other night, and the person behind me actually had his feet up on my chair. I suppose so I could share every wiggle and jiggle with him. I got him though..yeah I did, I slammed back as hard as I could. No more feetsies on the chair, obnoxious little punk, oh my, somebody stop me I am beginning to sound really old.

I was at a theatre and in the row in front of us a little girl was kicking away at the chair infront. Her mother turned to my friend and said., "could you please kick her chair." He looke at me then gave it a boot. The girl took notice and looked upset the mother then said, "See how do you like it?" The girl didn't kick a seat for the rest of the night.

I try to be aware of what my kids are up to, especially in a public place when their actions directly affect the comfort of those around them. Good for that mom, Good for your friend.

28. I do too; I resent it so when other kids are acting
obnoxious (with m and/or d around) and my son feels put upon because I won't let him be disrespectful of others.

Being a parent is so damn tough somertimes. But I'll be damned if my kid is gonna be disrespectful to others.

23. Early cell phone story.
This is when they were first starting to come out. It was probably the early 1990's and I was back home visiting my family. Some of my friends and I went out for a drinks and dinner. This group of teenagers had mom and dad's new "flip phone" with them. One of them went to the pay phone and call the guy at the table. It was all fun for a while, but they KEPT doing it over and over. One of the guys asked me "hey, wanna use my phone?" I said "serious?" and he offered it up. Well I just had to call my best friend in San Francisco and yak for a bit. Since this was back when the long distance plans were not what they are now, I'm sure Jr. had some 'splaining to do when the bill came.

5. ah, feet
Agree 100% with you about feet up on tables and up anywhere in public. Feet belong on the floor/ground, except at home, in the company of those who love those feet! :loveya:

In public, I don't care if they're decorated with rings and toenail polish, etc. feet still don't belong 'up' on things.

Speaking of feet, I do 'distance walking' and keep track of my kilometers. My number of km's this year is larger than my post number, although not by a whole lot. I'll have to join the 700 club to catch up with my kilometers.

Needless to say, no one wants to smell or see my skanky feet after a 10km walk or two. Reciprocally, I don't want to see or smell anyone else's either....
B-)

11. I once saw a guy in the supermarket..
talking on his cell with his wife/girlfriend about "Which ice cream do you want, the Haagen Dazs Mocha Ripple or the Ben & Jerry's Strawberry Splat or the Breyers Vanilla with real vanilla beans or......" He went on and on and on.

It's not all that rude, but so annoying for sheer stupidity - I just wanted to scream at him "Surprise the bitch already!!!!!"

just because the phone rings, doesn't mean you have to pick it up.

Just because you own a cell phone, doesn't mean you need to use it constantly

18. Actually, I can see shopping list checks done by cell phone
That's one of the few valuable uses (such as calling in when delayed) for a cell phone.

That said, I DETEST the nasty little devices, or at least I hate how people are using them. Thanks to head sets, we can't even tell now who's talking to himself/herself and who's on the phone. We are privy to every bit of gossip and inane comment (sample gem: "I'M ON THE METRO NOW, JUST PULLING INTO THE STATION"), and it's shared with everybody in a one-block radius.

One day on the Metro (subway), the woman sitting next to me made such a discreet and quiet call that I wanted to thank her for her manners and dignity. Usually I'm treated to cell phone screamers, such as the woman who advised her friend to "BE VERY SELF-EFFACING."

My church actually posts a notice every Sunday requesting that the congregation turn off their cell phones. Most do, but a couple have those obnoxious rings that are heard all over the sanctuary and into the side chapels.

And don't get me started on people who use head phones but have the music cranked up so loud I could write a transcript of what they're listening to.

13. Want to read about some more repulsive dining habits??
We have a large cafeteria at work where most people eat. There are also two much smaller rooms w/tables where you can go to eat if you prefer a very quiet atmosphere. I go there because I like to read while I eat my lunch.

So, who the hell do you suppose goes to these QUIET rooms?? Yep, people who are completely unable to be quiet while they eat!!!! One regular comes in, plops down, and proceeds to eat, emitting the grossest, noisiest porking-out sounds imaginable. A certain woman also comes in often to eat and seems to be constitutionally unable to CLOSE HER GODDAM MOUTH while she eats. Once I made the mistake of looking up and was treated to the sight of food actually falling from her mouth. It is worse than listening to pigs at a trough. Yesterday, another dim bulb sits down and proceeds to SUCK HIS GODDAM TEETH, trying to extract every morsel. We're not talking discreet sounds here, folks. We're talking pig sounds.

On most days, I now go outside to eat and read.

14. While there are plenty of things I find mildly irritating...
NOTHING gets to me more than people that have poor table manners. It is just one of theose things that instantaneously get under my skin, and just won't let go.

Slurping, chomping, smacking, sucking, snorting and morsels dropping from gaping mouths filled with semi-chewed food turn me into a person that basically loses control. I have no qualms about telling friends or strangers alike to get it together and respect those around them by keeping their slovenly behavior out of the view of the public.

Ok what the hell.

We were checking out of Bally's in Vegas and we had over slept and had to rush around to check out on time. We wanted to check our players points and was NOT feeling too chipper, there was this BRAT crying his ass off and then he went into one of those ear piercing SCREAMS! Thank god we were driving and we didn't have to rush to catch a plane.

What was it like in Vegas before it became a "family" place?

19. Far from downtown but...
I went camping with my family in SHenandoah National Park last weekend ans and actualy saw some dumbass cleaning his grilling impliments in a public water fountain! Dirty dishes IN a public water fountain! I could not believe my eyes!

The other one that get's me at parks are people who feed animals. I watched some dumb redneck encouraging his TODDLER to feed cheasie poofs to a dear! "Oh, how cute!" I can just hear them thinking under their breath...right up to the point where the dear decides it doesn't like that little child and caves in it's head with a hoof.

Oh, wait there's more!

What about people who litter in National Parks! I for one think it should involve death! Right then and there...death! Well, ok, maybe just simple expulsion form the park.

And what about people who approach bears? My god how stupid do you have to be? Just because the beart stands still while you walk up to it with food doesn't mean the bear won't knock you to the ground and eat your arm!

Oh and people who flash flash lights AT ternts as they pass by camp sites. Over even better AT PEOPLE sitting in their sites.

OK, I feel a little better now.

Thanks for reading,

Zizzer

And nobody seems to hold doors open for people anymore and kids don't give up their seats to their elders.. When did people start acting like this? What the hell's wrong with them?

And nobody can tell me that it's just kids being kids. People are just rude these days.

26. Maybe this will cheer you up
This isn't really along the lines of the original post, but it paralles it closely.

Yesterday, I was walking in my college town to get my haircut. I cut through an alleyway and two young burn-out punks (probably around 12 yrs old) on their bikes come whizzing through straight at me. One I notice is almost on a collision course with me. At the last second he turns his bike enough to miss me and lets out a scream which he probably thought made him sound like a bad ass; I thought it made him sound like he just hit puberty. As I take my next step, I thought maybe I should have nudged out my should or elbow enough to bump or just make him think I would bump him just as he passed me, and he would have quickly gotten away from me or become scared.

Well, I am glad I didn't because 3 seconds after he passed me, I hear squeking brake sounds, clashing metal, and crashing bikes. Apparently these 2 jackasses ran into each other just moments after passing me. I bet at least one of the kids was looking back at me to see my reaction, and wasn't paying attention to his steering and they slammed into each other.

The good Lord smiled upon me and took care of business. I lauged pretty hard the rest of the day, and had a big smile too.

30. Pet Peeves
I'm with you on the cell phones; I'd happily drop-kick most users into the nearest large body of water. I'm an OB/GYN Nurse Practitioner, and I've had patients leap off the table in order to answer a ringing cell phone in their purses in the middle of a pelvic exam. Even worse, I've seen co-workers break off in the middle of caring for a client to answer one. This would be excuseable if the call was about a dire emergency, but most times it's someone calling to remind the susbscriber to pick up the dry cleaning, or some other trivial concern.

My absolute "drives me nuts" bad habit is folks who forward on their right-wing, homophobic, racist, ethnocentric, fundamentalist rants to my in-box. *I* know better than to send articles from Common Dreams, Michael Moore, or Kucinich for President to them. Why the heck don't they extend the same courtesy to me when it comes to Limbaugh's or Savage's latest rabid verbal diarrhea?

Thank-you-Goddess-for-the-delete-key Judy

31. cell phones and right-wing forwards.....
The other problem I've noticed is that a lot of cell phone users are completely and utterly incapable of walking and talking on a cell phone--they think that people should automatically clear the sidewalk for them because they can't be bothered to not run into people while they're talking. I'm scared to think that they probably _drive_ when they're using those things, too.

Heh....I _used_ to get forwards from rabid right-wing friends, but I made sure to always send an extremely long, nasty response, and now the wingnuts don't send me any forwards that are even remotely political. The last one was a timeline with revisionist history about how France has supposedly lost every war they've been in, and it even said that they hurt us more than helped us in the Revolutionary War! After getting a particularly nasty reply from me, my friend said "Well, uh, _I_ didn't think it was political!" The poor, naive dear. :eyes:

33. or how about when you go to an expensive restaurant on a
date and some fuck has their kids there running around, unsupervised? I hate this. My husband and I like to go to nice restaurants now and then, but for us it is always a special occasion--we dress up, we want to savor the meal and conversation--and I'm surprised at how often families with unruly children show up at the same restaurants. I'm talking about restaurants that charge upwards of $18 an entree, not your "family style" restaurants.

I have actually told the parents that maybe they can afford to drop a lot of money on a disappointing experience, but we won't have our once a month "treat" out spoiled by their brats. They are usually shocked when confronted. I've also spoken to wait staff, but they are not enthusiastic about disciplining clients, since they need tips.

Call me a fascist, but some places should not allow children under 10 after 8 pm!
