I just took cat antibiotics...ask me anything..(before I croak)
I picked up the wrong bottle, and did not realize it until after I had taken 2 Orbax tabs.. The dose for a 17 lb cat is once a day. so I am sure it will not hurt me..

Anyone else ever take pet meds??

My aunt & uncle used to order an antibiotic lotion from a pet supply.. They noticed that while they were treating their doxie's skin problem, that my uncle's exczema cleared up too, so they just kept using the doggie version, which cost about a 1/3 of what the human med was..

4. I saw a lot of articles about bodybuilders taking
veterinary steroids without incident other than the usual side effects.
Also, I know I have heard about getting L-tryptophan from the pet store to treat insomnia. L-tryptophan was banned for human use because of contamination(bad factory quality control) in the past.

5. one of my ex BFs treated his bronchial infections with
fish penicillin, the stuff they sell for treating ick.

He was broke and the health department clinic was closed.... and an ER bill would have killed his chances of getting a new apartment.

He lived. And kept using it.

As far as I know, he's still alive.

12. Yup, that's been around for years. Folks without health insurance
My daughter worked in a pet store and her customers told her they were buying the fish penicillin for themselves. Some didn't even have pets.

6. I have never taken my pets' meds
But I have worried about giving the wrong med to the wrong one. My guys have been on so many things. They say we humans are over-medicated. I suspect our pets may be, as well.

I hope that you are okay. At least it wasn't something meant to have you cough up a hairball!:-)

7. I order antibiotics from a vet supply
I buy tetracycline from Lambriar Vet Supply. It's called Fish Cycline. It supposted to be for control of bacterial infections in fish. But all it is 250 MG of tetracycline. And a lot cheaper than getting through prescription. They also have a lot of other antibiotics supposedly for fish.

13. lots of people do in the U.S.
If you have a condition treatable by tetraycycline, for many people in the United States, where antibiotics marketed to humans are sold so expensively or in cases where people can't afford to visit a doctor to get a prescription in the first place, pet shop tetracycline sold OTC but labeled as pet bird or pet fish or another pet antibiotic is either a lifesaver or an irresponsible mis-use of the antibiotic, depending on who you talk to.

It won't kill you, but it won't cure any health problem you happen to have unless 1) you take it for a sufficient period of time (usually 10 days) and 2) your problem is actually caused by a bacteria which still responds to antibiotics -- no viral disorder is treatable by tetracycline.

You'll be fine.
