Political junkies' afternoon on Sundance Channel

I tuned in to see the end of a documentary about the Green/Bloomberg mayoral race.

Coming up at 12:15 Central: Unprecedented, Greg Palast's doc about the Florida recount.

(Unprecedented will be rebroadcast on Sunday and Wednesday.)

At 1:05 is A Perfect Candidate about the Virginia Senatorial race between Chuck Robb and Oliver North (boo-hiss).


At 3:00PM is Our Times, an up-close look at Iran's most recent elections, in which a liberal (by Iranian standards) candidate was elected with the youth vote.

I'd like to give a huge plug to the Sundance Channel. Every Monday is "Doc Day," in which the late afternoon and evening schedule is given over mostly to documentaries, often organized around a single theme.

I'm watching A Perfect Candidate right now, and one of the earliest scenes is a pro-North rally at which a guy with a guitar is singing a song about how good ol' Murkans don't have to feel guilty about the fact that there are poor people, and that the message to poor people should be, "Get up off your buns."
