Poll question: How do I get my nine year old to sleep?
She all revved up about going back to school tomorrow (OK, today at this point). She takes meds for anxiety, but it doesn't seem to be working tonight. It's 2 AM and she's still saying she can't sleep.
although in children that can cause hyperactivity instead of the drowsy effect seen in adults. I've seen it first hand. Did a clinical rotation at the ER and they gave a kid benadryl b/c of a rash on his face. Within 30 minutes he was hanging from the ceiling and trying to start his own IV. Very freaky.
Many of the clients I work with sleep with their radios or TVs blaring. I can't understand how they can sleep like that, but they manage just fine. Apparently some people are able to sleep with loud noise, and some actually have difficulty sleeping if it is "too quiet". Go figure.
