I'm reading '1776' by David McCullough and came across this contemporaneous description of the prostitutes in Old New York that were corrupting our patriot rebel forces:

both the novel by John Barth and the original poem by Ebenexer Cooke....have plenty of 17th and 18th century 'slang'....some of it quite vulgar, but hilarious
