Anybody here had the bladeless LASIK?
I have a screening appointment next week. Evidently it is the latest greatest thing as there does not have to be a flap cut and it is all done by laser and the healing is supposed to be easier. The idea of having my eyes operated on scares the bejibbers out of me but I have been so blind for so many years that the idea of being able to get up from bed and walk to the bathroom without glasses sounds like a wonderful thing.

1. i worked as an optician
...for about 3 and half years, I have known and talked with several people who had the Lasik surgery. I only know of one that had a bit of a problem with vision right after surgery, she was actually over corrected, but in time this settled down as her eye was still swelling. everyone one else has had great results. I am going to get the surgery as soon as i can afford it. you should be fine as long as you pick a doctor who is reputiable.

2. Bladeless?
Hmmm...this gets my attention. Actually, I've giving the surgery more thought with each passing day...It's the financial committment for the surgery as opposed to maintaining contacts and glasses...

3. Well, it ain't cheap.
However, this guy has a great reputation and I know people who have gone to him to fix what other doctors have done. Hopefully my faith is not misplaced... Anyway, here is his website. Click on "bladeless" at the top. Maybe you can find someone in your area.

4. I can get regular lasik for $1500...
...which is a damned good deal. Everyone I know that's been to that clinic has had good results, save one, and she was both near and far-sighted, so her likelihood of success was small anyway.

5. I'm a confirmed Glasses/contact gal
I cannot see the use for this surgery and I've estimated it would take about 20 years after Lasik surgery to equal the money I'd save from Glasses & Contacts. (I mainly wear glasses, which insurance covers the exam and 1 pair of glasses a year, I need about a box a year per eye and my doctor loads me up with free contact lens solution - hence I pay about $100/year for everything).

To be honest, I've read some problems about those with cronic dry eyes - which I am a sufferer. I'll hold off a bit, I kinda like the geeky glasses look anyways!
