Tom Cruise, friend of Dorothy?
Edited on Fri Aug-26-05 08:48 AM by Julius Civitatus
(I know this is sleazy gossip, but it's what everyone is talking about today)

From Salon's "The Fix"

And your little Toto, too!: Embarrassing childhood photos are never more embarrassing than when you're an international star with a growing image problem. On Thursday, the Sun ran pictures of a very young Tom Cruise, even before his earliest acting days in high school, playing dress-up in women's clothing. Sporting both a twenties flapper costume and an outfit that appears to be Dorothy from the Wizard of Oz, the smile is still recognizably all Cruise. (Defamer, The Sun)

1. I guess the dudes in Monty Python are all gay, too, then, huh?
I thought "gay" meant that you preferred your own sex, not that you dressed up like the opposite sex in a play a couple of times.

Lighten up, it's just tabloid gossip stuff

The joke here is that Tom Cruise has been pretty ruthless in his pursuit to anyone that insinuates he may be gay. In recent years he sued people and magazines that hinted that much. He sends his lawyers quickly after anyone who may claim so. Seems like it's quite ironic for a guy that has used such zeal in defending his male-ness to have these silly (mind you, silly, innocent) pictures.

Do I think these silly childhood pictures make him gay? Of course not. It's just silly high-school fun, no biggy. I do have my share of embarrassing high-school photos to hide! ;)

It's the context of his crusade to fight anyone that suggest he may be gay that makes these pictures ironic.
