16. What kind of history?
Do you know what specialty you are going to pursue?

My daughter just had her first day of class at Indiana University today. She's majoring in archeology right now with plans on getting her PhD in medieval archeology (which means she's headed to England for her masters and doctorate in medieval history).

Modern European history major here - pre-Soviet Russia was my master's thesis topic.

19. You don't get a specific sub-major...
Edited on Mon Aug-29-05 10:42 PM by seawolf
...but I'm probably going to go with medieval history, although I'm going to take the basics of Greek and Roman history this year.

2. How did they go?
Sorry to be unoriginal.

Second question - how times have you got drunk since you arrived?

I have some pretty cool teachers.

To answer your second question...0.
As to why:
A: I'm on meds. The most I can have is one drink.
B: I moved in Thursday, and wasn't in the mood to go party-hopping this past weekend.

12. That's good and just too bad
(respectively).

The teachers are important, but (to my mind) more important is to teach yourself - read all around the subjects, talk about the ideas with clas-mates &c.&c.

We had a built in party-week before term began (officially called pre-sessional and designed so that classes could all be arranged, I think we all know what it was really about).

15. Hmm...
Maybe 3 hours? It's actually not that much, just doing about 60 pages of re-reading, taking a little online quiz for English, and printing out the rest of my English syllabus.

The only reason it's going to take so long is that the author who wrote the book for my reading assignment has one of the dullest styles on the face of the planet.

28. Man, when I was in college that was the first thing we checked out!
Then we would report to each other which girls were in which classes.

Ahhh...the good old days.

23. What alarcojon said
Don't get behind!

I almost feel sorry for my students. On the first day (last Monday) they got a lab that was due the next day. On Wednesday they got their first non-lab assignment.

Keep 'em busy.

Welcome to university.

Computer scientist, which is almost the same thing.

After I got my B.S.C.S I realized that I was only a couple of classes shy of my B.S. in math.
