1. heh - if you find one of the 25% of pumps in NC
that still uses mechanical systems to portion out the fuel (like the polace across from the malwart with the "cheap" gas), you'll find a pleasant surprise at the pump, and a big shock when you go in to pay. Those 25% of pumps in the state cannot register gas prices higher than $2.99, so the stations that own them are selling gas by the half-gallon. What you see on the pump display will be half the total yer expected to pay when you get inside. Most stations will tell you this before you pump, to reduce the shock, and keep you from flying into a destructive rage on finding out the pump displayed only half yer total. ;-)

Ugh.

I'm expecting about $60 or so for fill up.

That's like the Citgo up the road from me. It's an old-fashioned hunting/bait/tackle kind of place with the old fashioned pumps.

9. I'd offer to ride with you out to the Durham Costco
so you could top off there, but with prices the way they are now, it would cost more to get there than you'd save with their (now very meager) discount. Cheapest gas in Orange County is the place across from the malwart on NC 86 at I-85. Shouldn't be too much of a schlep from yer house. And you'd have an excuse to pop into the malwart for a box of wine in which to drown yer sorrows after emptying yer wallet filling up yer tank. ;-)

14. Are you talking about the truck stop?
or the BP across from the massage parlour?

15. heh - 'massage parlour'
is THAT what the kids are calling it these days? ;-) I mean the truck stop. The one directly across the street from the malwart. The BP across the interstate tends to be kinda pricey. I usually top off at the truck stop. If I'm in Durham, I'll hit the costco. If I'm over Burlington-way I'll stop at either the Hess or the Smile Gas place off of I-40. But for the time being, I'm homebound. I have a half tank of gas to get me to my job interview tomorrow. In Durham. Guess I'll find out after that how much costco gas has gone up...

17. 'House of ill repute'
If I wanted to be really quaint. :-)

I haven't been to the Smilie plaza in a while; I don't go to Burlington much. Do you know what their price is? They are usually the cheapest between RTP and Greensboro.

16. Costco was 2.76/gal
I used up the balance on my Costco Cash card. I had to wait in line for about 15 minutes.
