I can see how some could wantonly kill others in another part of the world (not understand, but see how they justify) but how does one not even give a shit about your own country's people, that you were sworn to support?

Your people, their people, any people. Whatever. They're not his people. I'm not even sure if he truly cares about anybody - even the rich who make up his base. He is a heartless sociopath who wears his faux religiosity much as a wolf might wear sheeps' clothing. He is a child of privilege; he knows not what it is like to work for one's bread, having been always the useful tool of those with malign intent. Maybe he knows that; if so, he cares not a whit. He is a curse on you, on me, on all of us.
