My head is hurting so badly I can hardly see. I think I've finally reached the breaking point. I don't even know anyone in the Gulf Coast; I don't know how people with family and friends there can stand all this bullshit that's happening (and NOT HAPPENING).

1. I know some people from Biloxi and Mobile.
My Biloxi friend left for Fla, and found out his house was demolished.

I have not been able to contact our friends in Mobile. They are very poor people, and I don't know if they were even planning to leave the city. :(

2. no no no, stop, breath, they need your strength
If you believe, as I do, that we're all connected, spiritually, then you have to realize they need our strength. When we despair, all we do is add to it. Have to manage, have to live to witness, have to hang in.

For those that cannot. We live for them. All of us that can. We pray for them, and hope for them, and we CARE. It matters, even if it sounds just plain silly. It matters. Hang in. It helps.

Relax, try to get away for a while, and concentrate on the good things, the good images you'd like to give those people, all of them, if you could. Imagine it, and, in your mind, make it better. Give hope. Live hope. There is a reason for all things. There's a reason you feel connected, and it matters if you feel badly, but try to combat it with hope and caring. It's really all we can do, but we have to remain here, on this earth, to help.

3. You don't have to know those people to hurt for them.
All you have to do is know they're there... hurting...

6. Me too
If I don't stop crying I'm afraid I'll flood Houston. I reached my relatives outside Mobile (finally) - they're OK. No power but no damage. But I only have two emotions left: anger and despair.

And then I realize how easy it is for me to indulge in that, when people are suffering. Truly suffering.

God fucking damn it! Back to anger... but maybe that's more constructive.

I heard that FEMA had been pulled out of NO because it was too dangerous.... can someone confirm or refute that?

Khash.

9. Yeah me too
Since I live across the state line on the Panhandle, it seems super-surreal (no I don't care how grammatically incorrect that is lol!). Got family in Mobile, and my hubby has been deployed to Biloxi. I finally just had to leave the damned house today. Went and priced some bikes. Hey, at this rate we won't be able to afford to drive. :P Worked on the yard some too. I can start putting late summer/early fall veggies in soon and might need that stuff with groceries prices like they are. :P

10. I'm swinging
between insane rage and utter despair. It's the helplessness that sucks, really. I could deal with having a completely incompetent criminal as a "leader" if there was any flipping thing I could do to fix his nightmare. That asshole.

This is what happens when you take a brain-damaged puppet and surround him with political spinmasters rather than anyone who could ever possibly do anything productive. Fuck.

11. I was close to one myself...
then I just drank a whole Odwalla Blueberry B Monster Smoothie -- it calmed me right down. Vitamin B -- the anti-stress vitamin. If you can get your hands on some liquid Be vitamin take it you need it right now.
