Battle of the ground bees
I have a nest of ground bees that I can't seem to get rid of. I need help! I think the Benadryl from the 15 stings I got yesterday is clouding my brain but I can't figure out what to do next.

1. I first sprayed at least 4 cans of Raid on the nest (this was yesterday after I got swarmed). Unless I hit them with a direct hit, these suckers won't die.
2. This morning while it was cool I poured gasoline down the two entrances and covered them with coffee cans to try to "suffocate" them. The damn bees that didn't die from that were swarming over the surface and landing on the damn cans.
3. After several hours of watching this shit, I kicked the cans over and threw a flaming fireball of newspaper at the nest. This was fun and produced an impressive bonfire but ultimately futile, the remaining suckers are STILL hovering over the their burnt out disaster area.
4. Tonight, just before I went home for some major drinking to drown my sorrows, I dumped a bucketload of dirt on the site.

It's too dark for me to see what's happening now but I need a plan for the morning.

Any suggestions?

1. Oh my GOD.
You poured GASOLINE? Why didn't you just melt GOLD and pour that down instead?

Lemme think....

2. If it takes gold, dammit, I'm there
These things are EVIL!

(besides, I only used two coffee cans worth of gas.... I must admit, I had a slight conscience twinge contemplating bee genocide but these things have got to go).

3. I found this:

Control

If ground-nesting bees and wasps can be ignored and their tunnels tolerated, do so since they are valuable in agricultural production and helpful by controlling pests in nature. If nests are in locations undesirable and stinging is a great possibility, control is justified. During the day, carefully watch where the nest entrances are located. After dark, tunnels and the surrounding area can be treated with dusts of carbaryl (Sevin), bendiocarb (Ficam D) or diazinon when the nest is in the ground. Use pyrethrins, permethrin, resmethrin or propoxur (Baygon) when the nest is in the side of a building. Other lawn and garden insecticide sprays can also be used, but dusts have the advantage of not soaking into the soil. Those who are allergic to bee stings, should contact a licensed, professional pest control operator to perform the control job. Always read the label and follow directions and safety precautions.

Hope this helps! :hi:

4. Excellent!
Major chemicals. Sounds like I need to make a trip to the local Farm and Fleet tomorrow.

Wish I could leave them alone but after our lovely introduction yesterday, these bees must die. We've only had 36 hours together....

Relationships are such tricky things, tonight we drink, tomorrow it's time for revenge!

Wish I could get into some of Uma Thurman's cute battle clothes and assault them with a sword. Much more emotionally satisfying than dusting the nest with powder but I guess I got my jollies today with the flaming death. Alas.

5. I hate the use of chemicals as a solution
but it sounds like you're doing serious battle here. Good luck to you.

6. I commiserate with the stings...I got zapped a week ago by
a damn yellowjacket...multiple stings. I think it sent my diabetes out of control.

7. Oh my god
I can't even contemplate having another health crisis while dealing with the damn itching/hurting/puffy aftermath.

Booze and Benadryl help, that's all I know for sure right now.
