A forlorn NO question
I know this is probably a bit crass, but I'm really wondering. How the hell can there be a Mardi Gras next year? NO has always been the best place in the world for such a celebration, and I doubt if they will be ready to celebrate any time soon. But what will it be like not to have a Mardi Gras? :(

1. Well, we like to party in San Antonio

we do Fiesta very well. And since it's predicted 20K New Orleans folks will be brought here - I take it upon myself to offer our city as a temporary Mardi Gras site. :woohoo:

Your question wasn't crass. I am mourning it myself.

2. It can be a working Mardi Gras.
By that time next year, I hope that the people that would have partied are ready to push up their sleeves and help build.

3. I don't care about Mardi Gras
Never did, even when I was a partyer. It was just a few pictures that I saw on a TV screen to me.

5. America, meet Baton Rouge, La.
the bratty little brother of that glamorous lady we call New Orleans, now laid up in intensive care. :(

One thing the little shit loves to do is play, and right now, he wants to play with you, now that you're not staring at Big Sis's ta-tas for once. :-)

Seriously, Baton Rouge has its own Mardi Gras, and has had for years, mostly for local consumption, although a few tourists who can't handle the over-the-top atmosphere of N'Awlins Marty Graw do occasionally drop in. It is organized along similar lines to the real thing, complete with parading krewes, such as the Krewe of Artemis.

Out in Acadiana, Lafayette also puts on a Mardi Gras, although Cajun Mardi Gras has its own special flavor and isn't as tourist-friendly as the others. On the other hand, Pickles just informed us that things are going really, really well in Lafayette after it wasn't hit by the hurricane, so there's that added element of safety. :sarcasm:

Laissez les bons temps rouler!

6. Galveston Texas does Mardi Gras also. I like the idea
of the Rehab Mardi Gras..What a cool way to get ready for Lent, by helping put New Orleans back together.
