My mother on the phone...trying to blame state and local authorities
and saying that state and local authorities should have been more insistent.

Sigh.

I tried to tell her that FEMA and Homeland Security were responsible, but she wouldn't listen. :( :(

1. How many excuses can they make for their Earth-Christ, Bush...
...Next time, tell her you're tired of excuses.

4. I told her * was passing the buck and that he'd gutted FEMA and hired
a "retard" to run it. I am not sure what she thought of that. When she said that local places had their own plans, I pointed out that the feds had had five days to rescue folks in the Superdome and Convention Center and had failed. She doesn't get it.

To admit that Chimpy is to blame, she'd have to admit she was wrong and that is something my mother can't do. I have only heard her say, "I'm sorry" once in her life. :( She can't ever admit she was wrong.

I'm learning to follow the truth wherever it leads, but she cannot. :( :( :( :( :( I'm leaving her behind and she thinks I'm the one who is lost. :(

2. Tell her to tune that radio
to a good oldies station and give up that AM righty talk show circuit. It will really help. It will make her see that there is much more to life than blaming Clinton for all of the country's ailments.

3. I'm just sick.
She said that local places have to have plans in effect. I should have said that they did have plans in effect and followed them, but I missed that talking point. My brain gets constipated when I try to talk to her. She won't blame anything on Bush. The only books I've seen her read in the past ten years: 1) the bible and 2) a Sean Hannity book.

Make that three books. She started reading a book on Asperger Syndrome because I might have it. She does care, but not unconditionally and she won't listen to my points of view. :( :( :( It makes me sad.

5. I talked to mine tonight too - and I am pissed!
We're just big meanies trying to blame Bush - and for no good reason.

Those people were told to leave - it's their own fault.

You know, the same fucking talking points we've heard over and over again. ALL of them. It's been done. They've heard them repeated enough times they've accepted them as indisputable FACT and will stubbornly cling to them NO MATTER WHAT.

The thing she said that ISN'T a current talking point and truly made me :wow: was:

"The more liberal this country gets the worse things are going to become!" She said it just like smirky would have too - smugly and self-righteously.

I was like - WTF?? The REPUBLICANS control ALL THREE BRANCHES of the federal government!! The country's never been worse than it is RIGHT NOW!!!

What a fucking bitch. She had nothing to say but make excuses for GWB, talk shit about democrats, give GWB a free pass, mention she's donating $100 to a church mission for hurricane victims, bitch about other countries taking aid from us, bitch about "liberals", bitch about GAS PRICES (fucking people can't grasp the concept of SELF-INFLICTED) and talk lots and LOTS about her new house, the money they're spending on new furniture and remodeling, and what color they're painting the walls. :eyes:

I've fucking HAD IT with people that won't open their fucking eyes!!

"No. Really. It was a level 4 hurricane. Swear to God. No really-I INSIST! The levees broke. No I'm not just saying that..."

So your mom doesn't realise that EVERYONE IN THE WORLD is appalled at the response of the federal govt to this catastrophe? I feel sorry for her.
Edited to add: She didn't hear the mayor of NOLA insisting the idiots in charge in DC get off their asses and do something?
