Fishing rodeo winner disqualified
I couldn't make up stuff this good. A bleeding LIE DETECTOR TEST?
For a freaking FISHING RODEO? jeez
July 23, 2003 - The winner of the Alabama Deep Sea Fishing Rodeo was stripped of his title after failing a polygraph test.

(MOBILE, Ala.-AP) July 23 -

Andy Cook, president of the fishing rodeo, said Joseph DeGeer of Irvington won master angler honors at last weekend's rodeo before getting "unfavorable results" on the polygraph test required for all first-place jackpot winners and competitors in the winning boats.

DeGeer disputes the polygraph results -- he said the fish was legally caught.

The disqualification will cost DeGeer about $3000 in prizes -- but he said he has no plans to contest the decision.

3. Sounds like Carl Hiaasen's book "Double Whammy."
Double Whammy was a spoof on the bass fishing tournament circuit.

4. I'd damn sure dispute it
Polygraph results are bogus. Maybe there is a reason he is not disputing it, I don't know. But if I had caught the damn fish, I would expect to get the damn prize. And I wouldn't sit back and let some machine call me a liar. It doesn't cost $3,000 to file a lawsuit in Alabama, come on, there has to be a good old boy lawyer who would assist with this.
