7. Me and the husband have been reading up
on the family trees of these characters, trying to figure out who they all are. Are you guys aware little Octavian is the future Emperor Augustus? Having read "I, Claudius" a few times and seen the series, it's weird to see him portrayed as a child. These people shaped the Roman empire for centuries to come.

10. They've got Cato down pretty good.
A self-righteous ultra-conservative prig who wore no tunic beneath his toga because "that's how our forefathers did it." (not a quote from the show.

The actor portraying him doesn't look a thing like him. The real Cato had a very large nose, but otherwise was considered quite handsome.

Cato may have been conservative, but at least he wanted to preserve the Republic.
