Just curious if you have donated and to what organization.

1. I donated
$5000 to the Red Cross, before I knew about the matching funds from Sears.

I am working on getting them to match it for me, but if they won't, my church has indicated that they will.

14. Your donation will likely...
change the lives of many who will never meet you. As Mayor Nagin said...God is watching this, and you will be rewarded in ways you may never know. I am happy to have had the opportunity to know you, albeit in a cyber manner, and very proud to call you a TRUE American who "walks the walk" !! Thank you..Thank you!

22. No kidding. I feel incredibly guilty just being able to be online.
Our house got toilet papered over the weekend by some of the idiot teenagers, 380 rolls. I was in a white hot rage, not about the TPing, but about the flagrant disregard for the suffering. How many people in NO could that have helped?

The worst part is one of their parents drove them to buy it.

 backatcha.

40. Amen to that.
I can't get over the fact that homes, jobs, communities, etc., have all been torn away from these people. The psychological burden alone must be overwhelming.

We had a special collection at church yesterday. No figures available yet, but I hope people opened their wallets.

7. Multiple choice.
We have donated money through the Red Cross and through our church; we have also donated clothing and supplies through a local Texas contact.

If at all possible, my husband will be donating his time as a volunteer for distribution of supplies and trasnportation of evacuees. That's still up in the air, but he's trying to put it together.

13. I donated my 25,000+ air miles to the Red Cross...
...and I'm going to donate cash to other entities when I get my next paycheck. I put in about 10 extra hours unexpectedly this week; I'd have managed without it, and the folks down South need that money more than I do.

24. Made half my donation to the Red Cross
I'm waiting on the other half to see if there is going to be a fund established for the retired jazz musicians who have lost everything. So many of those legendary performers were screwed out of royalties by unscrupulous and racist managers that they have nothing or very little in retirement.

to my local Sheriff's office. It is going up to a small police dept. in MS. Guess all the clothes they had were on their backs. I hope if they get enough, they will give some of the clothes to the local folks.

35. My office took up a collection friday and bought supplies
which were shipped from here in Wisconsin to the area yesterday. The company as a whole will take donations and send them to either our Dallas or Houston office next week so they can support a local shelter.

Giving through work is a good idea- you know that your company's managers will want to know the money goes to a place it will be well used.

42. Neither did I
The animals don't have as much support as the humans, and they need just as much help. I couldn't donate a whole lot, but I gave what I could. One of the email groups I'm with is sponsoring adoptions of cat and dog victims to try and get them out of the area as well.

51. One hundred doubloons to Mercy Corps
(the N'Awlins doubloon is pegged to the dollar :-) )

http://www.mercycorps.org

I have kind of a Red Cross thing: Liddy Dole :puke: , rumors that they don't earmark contributions for specific disasters but throw it all in a central kitty, plus my friend Velvet (her real name) from N.O. once told me they sold bread during Hurricane Betsy, the previous "big one".

I found Mercy Corps on The Hunger Site. Anyone whose motto is "Be The Change." is OK in my book.

And the beauty part of it is Mom matched it with some bucks she was planning to send me anyway. This is better than PBS!
