How dark is your darkside?
I have seen my darkside and it is ugly. It is mean and cruel and spiteful and vengeful. It hates you and it hates me. It lashes out without warning or relent. It is never sorry. It never forgives, or forgets. It takes and takes and takes and does not give anything of use or value in return. It has the will and the strenght to kill. It is raceist and predjudice. It is greedy and selfish. It is cold with a heart made of ice. It will kick you when you are down and wish you ill will. It will not help, only hinder. It lies, cheats and steels. It teases and taunts and tempts. And it smells very foul.

But it does have a weakness. It is afraid of the light. My light side is much stronger than the dark side has proved to be. With love, understanding and forgiveness I was able to bind it in restraints and put it in a place where it cannot hurt anyone.

I fear for the day if/when the beast breaks free.

Lilyhoney

3. I don't think mine is very dark.
Really! I rarely ever ever ever have any type of dark thoughts. Even when I am at my very worst, I don't have too much darkness. Maybe I will one day, who knows? I have had enough bad experiences to have a dark side, but I haven't found it yet.

17. Forgive?
Never forgive,
But pretend to forgive.
Say amiably that you forgive.
Convince that you have forgiven.
Thus, devastating is the effect
When at last you lunge
And reach for the throat.

- Mixtzin, Aztec Autumn

If I die, I forgive you.
If I live, we shall see...

Edited on Tue Sep-06-05 05:00 PM by BlueIris
No, not in a violent, cruel or self-destructive way. Let's just say I've got certain moral...flexibilities. I've actually broken quite a few laws in my time--victimless crimes, as far as I know, but still. And you know how they say there are people who have a knack for seeing the best in others? Well, I can see the worst in your average human being, and that's another part of my dark side--my pessimism about what people are capable of knows no limits. This makes my vision for the future extremely bleak in many ways. So, yeah, my dark side...dark.

19. Very dark...
My dark side, I'm ashamed to say, has contemplated everything on the no no list from Genocide to Suicide... Almost always it gives up on the former, though murmurs resentfully, "Wouldn't that be great"... but the latter it lingers on, and says, "That will be great."

My dark side is an asshole, but we agree on what we'd like to see happen to Bushit and Co. ^_~

Mine? Honestly?

Anger. The sick joy of cruelty. Arrogance. The overwhelming need to be in control - of myself and others.

You have to acknowledge it to fight it.

AVulgarianHue and I used to sit in Denny's and joke that we fit the description of the typical serial killer. I think it was more of a joke for her than it was for me.

There but for the grace of the Goddess go I....

So I try to find the kindness in myself rather than the cruelty. I try to be humble in the face of my own arrogance. I try to give up control rather than take it. I fail, but I try.

Khash.

52. Unspeakable
I've intentionally hurt more than one person in my life very badly. It's been a long time since I've done that and I like to think that I'm an enlightened individual now. The last time my dark side got the best of me I almost lost a life long friend. I called him the day after that event to apologize and the poor guy was crying over the phone. He said it was evil. I think what made the event more horrible to him is that I'm usually a mild mannered person and rarely do I show any anger. The contrast is what got him. And yes folks alcohol was involved.

I will forever be haunted by stuff like that. You can bet that I won't let it happen again.

63. That's such a complex question.
Generally, I'm a happy, positive sort, but when I get sad, I tend to become extremely sad. Gut wrenching, want to jump off a bridge, bawling my guts out sad. Then I let it go.

I am patient and empathetic, but when I'm pushed over the edge, I can be downright cruel lashing back when I've been hurt.

I'm responsible, nurturing, and kind of geeky and quirky, but extremely sexual, raw, and full of emotion in certain contexts.

My extremes in my light and in my dark has been a tough balance in my life, in particularly in relationships. I'm an intense person at times and finding someone who could not only understand my dichotomies, but appreciate them (and I, theirs) wasn't ever simple. For the first time in my life I feel as though I have that. It's pretty cool. :)

Keep that quote in mind as we move into the 2006/2008 elections. I'm talking about doing some truly evil things that will just have to be done for the good of the country. Use your imagination.
