... several of you recall our romantic rollercoaster .... well, about 6 weeks ago he got a call from a private school in Pohang Korea -- the 'Administrator' saw his resume online and wanted to know if he was interested in a teaching job.
He took a quick trip to the Consulate in Chicago to get all his documentation in order ... and voila, this morning he got on a plane for a 22 hour flight to Seoul, then a connection to Pohang, to start a new adventure as an English teacher.
For those remotely interested - he's still sober (11 months!), lost 30 lbs from biking every day (& absence of beer) and has done well in counseling and with the Effexor regimen ... sobering up is what made it possible for him to see this opportunity and make the leap to jump start some kind of career.
I'll miss him like crazy (yep, I'm tearing up as I'm typing just as I have intermittently over the past couple weeks) but it's such a good, good thing for him to do at this point in his life ... I am so tremendously proud of him. And who knows what will happen once his 1 year contract is up ?
Anyway. Anyone ever been to, or know anything about, life on the South Korean sea shore ?
:hippie:
