I mean, for fuck's sake, they serve, the guy hits it, maybe the other guy hits it back, and if you're really lucky, the guy hits it again. And then it's done.

If they were any fucking good, they could keep a volley going for ten, fifteen minutes. Maybe even more.

3. It really is amazing
It came on to my TV totally unbidden, and I thought, "How can anyone care about this shit?" And I still feel that way - seriously, who fucking cares? It's fucking "tennis", which they call a sport. Come on!

But, at least it's a bit more intellectual than American Idol and etc.

But, even though I couldn't give a rat's ass about this, it IS excciting to be watching two guys who are so incredible at what they do. They are pure art in motion, and THAT is fucking incredible to watch. And the historical importance of this match. But mostly, these guys are ARTISTS. And THAT is fucking amazing.

6. The game evolved to serving competitions after Americans
in the stand realized they couldn't talk on their cellphones as easily if their heads were constantly going left and right.

7. Good point! God forbid that an American should actually be at an event
to, you know, enjoy the event itself.

It's not about watching the tennis (or the game, or the race, or the concert...), it's about being able to say that you there.
