1. Possibly one of the worst movies ever made....
But I have to watch...

I am compelled to watch....

Such a mis cast cast you have never seen....

Gary Cooper about 15 years to old....

Partica Neal, about 10 years too young....

And the rest,,,,,,

And the script........

2. I have the videotape
But I'll still watch it when it comes on. I agree it wasn't very well made, but the same could be said of many movies.

7. It's just like when there was talk of them making "Atlas Shrugged"
I knew they'd mess it up, but I also knew I'd see it anyway.

17. Way back four or five years ago one of the cable networks was going to
make a mini-series out of it but it never came to fruition. Who knows if it will ever happen.

15. She hated the movie though
I watched a documentary on her, which ended being a great deal of propaganda, and she was not happy with the outcome of this particular adaptation.

8. it is totally trashy...
but strangely compelling at the same time...btw the babe is Patricia Neal...
Basically a fucked up story with some fine acting by some well known stars about a ridiculous philosophy I don't give a shit about...in a nutshell...

11. OK, everyone's descriptions have me intrigued, especially the bad movie
part!! I do like Gary Cooper, though, and since it's Friday night and I can sleep late tomorrow, I decided to check it out!

14. It is very direct.
Spoon-fed, as it were.

But that does not necessarily diminish the value of the story. :)

19. Spoon-fed there's an understatement, in the courtroom scene
when Gary has to give a long speech on the stand, they thought they would never get it filmed because Cooper could not remember more than two or three lines of dialogue at a time.

22. Yes, there was alot of compression to get that book
to a 115-min film. And I thought Roarke was a GREAT character.

"I do not build in order to have clients. I have clients in order to build."

Kent Smith's Peter Keating was really weasley too. A George Bush for his time.

21. I love that movie
hated the book. Roarke was really toned down in the film. The whole story was, actually. I just love Coop and Patricia Neal, and he did that character so well.

Side note - Coop ran off with Neal after they met making this picture. He spent 5 years with her and then returned to his family.
