What are your annoying habits?
Come on - you know you have them! I shake my right leg nervously when sitting. I had to really work to stop myself when taking the bar exam so as not to disturb the other sufferer at my table. I talk back to and scream at the TV entirely too much and carry on a running commentary about whatever fool I see yammering on. I ask my husband what he wants to do (such as picking a restaurant), then suggest another one until he changes his mind, then say, "No, we can go to the one you want." WHY DO I DO THAT???

7. On the bus or train,
if I see someone whose appearance I don't much like heading towards the seat next to me, I start coughing in the most revolting manner possible.

Of course, that's a tactic, not a habit, but I felt like sharing. :)

10. I am a slob in the bathroom, so much so that
my wife and I use different bathrooms. I've got at least 60 books and 30 magazines in there, and on the counter next to the sink I usually have a coffee cup.

I don't know why, but a perfectly clean bathroom annoys the shit out of me. I don't want public rest room conditions, but my home bathroom has to feel like a home itself.

34. It does seem to be true that the people who couldn't carry a tune
if it had handles on it, tend to be the ones who sing the loudest, and the most frequently.

Why do you think that is? (I'm not being insulting, just asking. My mother was like that, and so is Mrs R.)

16. Don't give me bubblewrap or ballpoint pins that I will 'click' into
infinity.

Interrupting others - I hate when I do that, but I can't seem to stop. I think it's because that when a thought enters the brain - it gets blurted out instantaneously. UGH.

I've been trying to work on that lately.

Because I don't click my pens. He sat to my left and didn't experience my leg shaking! I'm with you on the bubble wrap, though - Mr. DTBK usually takes it away from me by about the 7th pop!

36. Got ADD? The pens are OCD, but the interrupting is
almost definitely ADD. It's one of the characteristics of the syndrome that gets so many people who have it in so much trouble.

Yes, it can be, at times, even a physical struggle to contain the "blurting out." even with medication, in some cases.

20. i'll keep that in mind if we ever do meet!
we'll just sit back & listen My ex-wife was the same way. I once said I didn't speak to her for 6 months before we got married because I didn't think it was polite to interrupt somebody while they were speaking! But, that was part of her charm and not why we're divorced.

Actually, my wife now is generally pretty outgoing.

25. Worst gag ever
I crack my neck too. One time (following instructions from Penn and Teller) I took a plastic cup and put it under my arm. Then I stepped in front of my SO and moved like I was cracking my neck. I then brought pressure down on the plastic cup hidden under my arm crunching it loudly. The look on her face was worth the beating she gave me shortly after.

29. Nail biting
I've never been able to get out of the habit, and since I play guitar and piano, I've never seen the need. All my other friends have beautiful hands and manicures; mine look like they've been thru the thresher. I also bite cuticules and calluses. Yecch.

Edited on Tue Sep-13-05 07:56 PM by BlueIris
someone's made a joke. I kill jokes. I speak in broken sentences sometimes. I don't finish my sentences. I steal the bed covers and pillows. I lose my socks. I wear mismatched socks. I let my bra straps show. I wear dark lingerie with light shirts. I interrupt. Sometimes, I speak out of turn. I'm a stilted conversationalist (seriously? I'm reading books on conversation right now because I'm so bad at it). Sometimes, I tell someone I want to confess something and then I change my mind and refuse to say what it was. I drink the last of the milk. I...think if I keep going everyone on this website is going to start disliking me.
