2. That's a nice scooter. The one I want is at least 1/2 the price of that.
My goal is to not have to get a motorcycle license. :)

3. you won't if its under 50cc's
but that is only about 30mph

i want more acceleration on the roads in case i need it to get out of a jam

something to consider (i'm NOT planning on riding on the highway even though this will do 75mph)

7. Aw, man...I need one that goes 45-50.
Crap...guess I might as well study up for the motorcycle test. x(

I've wanted to learn to ride a real motorcycle anyway. Maybe I'll do that too. It won't hurt to have the safety course, just in case.

13. you could do that
the nice thing about the scooters is you don't have to worry about shifting.

MUCH easier to ride (so i am told)

15. Well I probably wouldn't ride a real bike every day.
But it might be nice to have the base of knowledge.

I might need to visit my local scooter dealers. :)

17. you should but they are suddenly HARD to find!
called 15 dealers over the last week. mine is being picked up in upstate NY (because they don't have any more available)

that's the only reason i have to wait.

i talked to one owner on the web last week. he has one, and gets about 200 miles outta one tank. its a 3 gallon tank

figure it this way. $69/month and a good tax return and its paid for (or 2 even)

be prepared though. they are getting full price these days. no haggling

33. Well, since you're still excited...
Get an elastic webbing net with fully rubberized hooks. Will come in handy sooner or later. The Honda polishing spray they'll probably try to sell you is actually pretty good, but spendy. And consider getting a Halo, which is a reflective elastic band that slips around your helmet, or maybe a reflective sticker to put on the back.

I wanna new bike! x(

40. I bought a $40 scooter last month...
It's a little 80's Yamaha "Jog" with a small 50cc 2 stroke motor, and the plastic is bad in spots, but I got the headlight working and the motor starts and runs OK, so I'm set to go. I learned to ride bikes on a Vespa in the 60's, and have had innumerable bikes since, but this little "putt-putt" wil be perfect for going up to the Post Office with my eBay packages to ship out every week. I've had a motorcycle endorsement on my license forever, might as well put it to good use.
Good luck with the new Honda, put some synthetic oil in the crankcase after it's broken in.

Bruce

42. There is a Harley in your future
I too started with a scooter. Before I knew it I was on a 250 cc. then it was 450 cc, 750 cc, and 900cc. Then,as if some unseeing force drove me to it, I was standing in a Harley Davidson show room signing the papers on a HAWG... AH the agony.

Oh well, have fun.

48. I sincerely hope you enjoy it. But as a biker for *mumble mumble*
years I wouldn't ever ride one. There's two kinds of bikers, those that have crashed and those that are going to. The problem with scooters is they don't have the acceleration to get out of the inevitable bad situation.

Just please, please remember these things;
You NEVER have the right of way
You are invisible
The morans around you will ALWAYS do the stupidest thing at the worst possible time
Ride in space
Keep an eye on the front tire of the cars next to you, the tire will start to move almost a full second before the asshole comes into your lane
Keep alert, you are always a moment away from a sudden and painful death, or crippling injury
YOU NEVER HAVE THE RIGHT OF WAY

That said, ride on brother, there's nothing else like it. Keep the shiny side up. :smoke:

56. I'm assuming it's street legal - do you need a motorcycle license
I have considered getting a scooter and after I buy my new house (which I'm hoping will be just 2-3 miles from work) I might consider getting one.

I really don't want to be scooting down I-95. I've always liked the Vespas but I'd do Honda too
