1. Well, Dr Dean could write himself script for pain killers,
and Gen Clark could order himself to do the proper calisthenics for therapy.

I can only rub my back and say, Oh shit, this hurts!!

2. Other - ice massage
someone else who doesn't object, maybe a bit into sadism, takes an ice cube, rubs it over the spasmy area. Things get numb, spasm & pain goes away. Dean would do that; he's a doc & has heard of this. And, JanMichael, if this happens regularly, ya oughta be weight-lifting - best preventive there is. Bags are great fun, weights are boring, but it works.

3. How about having someone walk on it?
That usually works for me. If not, try arching your back on a low back chair it will straighten out your back and crack it.

If worst comes to worst... hit the bottle

18. Hell no!
The General would just bite on a bullet and
slog on in spite of the pain!

Whereas I, would recommend Soma JanMichael.
That's what it's for.

23. If it's really bad
I think it becomes a vicious circle — you're sore, so you tense up, then you get more sore, and then you tense up even more...

Sometimes the only solution is a trip to the doctor and a prescription for muscle relaxers and pain killers. Sure, you'll feel a little loopy, but sometimes it's the only answer.

Obviously been there, done that. Hope you feel better soon. :hi:

20. Dean's smirk would never soothe me
He is so angry he would make me even more tense.

I am not sure if Clark could give me a 4-star massage, either.

21. Clark would send you over to Dr. Dean.
After all, Howard's the doctor. Wes is just an Army general; what does he know about medicine?

22. You, too?
My back froze up last Thursday. For no physical reason. I attribute it to stress. And it kept me unable to do anything during my whole 4 day holiday weekend. :grr:

It's finally beginning to relax. Here's what I did, besides bouts of tears and fuming:

Ice. Then heat.

Lots of hot baths with Epsom salts.

Pillows etc. arranged in the furniture to provide lumbar support. Resolutely sleeping on my back to keep from contorting into weird shapes while sleeping.

Arnica salve rubbed in/gentle massage by family members.

Plenty of rest. Good posture. No bending over or lifting anything for any reason.

And, on the 4th day, in desperation, a friend raided her medicine chest and brought me some muscle relaxers. And some vicodin to knock me out while I waited for them to work.

While the muscle is recovering, still no bending, lifting, or working in any way; no relapses allowed.

Feel better!

24. Arnica Montana cured a serious back spasm for me
Edited on Thu Nov-13-03 09:39 AM by nuxvomica
It was so painful it made me nauseous and the arnica was just something I thought I'd try before calling an ambulance. (The pain was so bad, I couldn't drive.) Oh but wait.... Homeopathy is "unscientific". Thank God my back muscles didn't know that. Those stupid, gullible back muscles. They were soooo fooled. :)

edit: changed :P back to :). I hope you get better anyway.

25. Dean would speak out against Bush....
And talk about how he hypothetically would deal with the back spasm. That cures everything, right?
