Yes, after the Latin word Canaris. And yes, they are in the Atlantic, not Pacific.

9) Where are Chinese gooseberries from? *New Zealand
At least the ones we buy here are. They're called Kiwi Fruit, though. (Also being grown in California now.)

10) What is the color of the black box in a commercial airplane? Orange.
Of course. that makes easier to find in the wreckage.

of the islands'name.

Or was it the Portugese name for "dog?"

Something like that, anyway. I'm all confused now.

10. OK, so it was Latin. One or the other of the words, your or mine.
This is what I get for being old-fashioned and relying on my memory instead of Google.

And my memory is, to say the least, not comprehensive.

Yes.

Yes - the Russians were still using the Julian calendar which means that the October Revolution took place in what is generally known as November.

7) What was King George VI's first name? *Albert
Yes - British kings frequently take names other than their first names.

10) What is the color of the black box in a commercial airplane? Orange,
Yes - how else is it going to be found.

9. Maybe it's because there were 25 leap years in there.....
....you know, "spring forward...fall back", except in nine of those years they got them bass ack-wards:hide:
