I've been drinking Knob Creek - what are your favorites?

2. True, any whiskey will get you hammered
but I'm looking for that smooth flavor WHILE I'm getting hammered.

4. Maker's Mark!
IMHO, the best whisky (see bottle) available at any kind of a reasonable price.

I unfortunately am unable to drink alcohol right now, so drink one for me, will ya?

6. I like bourbon whiskey. Right now I'm drinking Maker's Mark.
It's alright. The Kentucky Derby whiskey that I had before it was outstanding.

Jim Beam will also do in a pinch.

7. Kilbeggan's Irish whiskey - poor marketing, nice whiskey
It comes in a nondescript bottle with a screw cap, looks like it would be crap, but it's a nice, light, clean Irish whiskey, and a very good deal. If you like Knob Creek, Maker's Mark, and similar bourbons, you might not like it though - its flavor is less intense.

14. 100 Pipers (Scotch)
When Johnny Walker hit $30 for the 1.75L, they priced me out of their market.

I get 100 Pipers for around $19, pluss a 7% case discount.
I'm happy.
:-)

16. George Dickel is an excellent one
It's a Tennessee whiskey, which is a specific thing: sour mash whiskey containing between 51 and 80 percent corn, made in a still where the end of the condenser drains into a vat of charcoal that is at least ten feet deep.

There are two Tennessee whiskies, George Dickel and Jack Daniel. (NOT Jack Daniels, dammit, Jack Daniel or Jack Daniel's. His name was NOT "Daniels.") I like Dickel better, but Jack Daniel is also good.

19. For good stuff on the low-dough,
Try John Power's Gold Label. It's an Irish whiskey, so it'll be on the shelves near Jameson & Bushmills. It's a few bucks less than Jameson, but to my taste, it's absolutely every bit as good.

21. Jack Daniel's Old No. 7
There are other good whiskies, but some of the recommendations in here are more expensive (like your Knob Creek, good stuff, but not cheap) or are just shit (Canadian Club is putrid shit - I wouldn't clean the toilet with it).

Maker's Mark is okay but overrated - I think people are taken by the red wax seal - Kentucky has at least 3 whiskies which beat it: Wild Turkey, Knob Creek, or Woodford Reserve. Old Grandad is better than Jim Beam, which is the Budweiser of bourbon. Maker's Mark is Old Grandad with better packaging, a touch of vanilla flavoring, and is much more expensive.

Just go with the basic black label Jack Daniel's (and yes, calling it by that name is perfectly fine, because it indicates the possessive form of Jack Daniel as it appears on the label - the "whiskey" is implied as the object when someone calls it by just "Jack Daniel's").

If you want to spend some green, get the Jack Daniel's Single Barrel. It is smoother than silk, and keeps that unique smoky flavor intact.
