"There was love, all around, but I never heard it singing, 'till there was you." (Did Paul write that, or just sing it?)

"If you can't be with the one you love, love the one you're with." (usually believed to mean "have sex with the one you're with", but the song does say 'love')

"If 'love' is to be selected as the most important thing in life to write about, then the mother's love should be the principal subject. This is the main stream, this is the general underlying world-lifting force. The 'life-force,' now so glibly chattered about, finds its fullest expression in motherhood, not in the emotions of an assistant in the preliminary stages." Charlotte Perkins Gilman "The Yellow Wallpaper and other writings" p. 220

7. My answers

  1. What size shoe do you wear: Size 11

  2. What do you have hanging on your office/cubicle walls at work: A map of the world, a picture of Donovan McNabb, a map of Italy, some work related stuff and a calendar

  3. What was the name of your first imaginary friend: I had a pretend boyfriend named Davy, I think I got him from watching Monkees when I was 3-4 years old

  4. Styx or Journey - which tortures you more?: I like Journey and Styx has a few songs I can tolerate

  5. Did you sleep with a blanket or stuffed animal as a child and do you still have that item?: I had a stuffed dog I named Lobo. He's travelled and even went to college with me. He is no longer on my bed because he's in such poor shape and I don't want the cats clawing him, but I still have him

  7. What was the first car you ever drove: 1977 Chevy Impala in olive green

  9. What question would you ask if I allowed you to have the #9 slot on this list?: Why the hell did I ask such a dumbass question as #9

  10. Has anyone seen the bridge? Has anyone seen the confounded bridge?: Ah the rhetorical Led Zeppelin question

8. Ten answers.
What size shoe do you wear? 9.5 wide or 10 regular

What do you have hanging on your office/cubicle walls at work? A calendar dedicated to US Olympians, a cardboard Dogbert cutout, a kamikaze headband, and an origami monkey, signifying that I was born in the year of the monkey (the last two were gifts from my parents on one of their trips to Japan).

What was the name of your first imaginary friend? I never really had one.

Styx or Journey - which tortures you more? Styx, much more bad than good. Journey was more consistently listenable.

Did you sleep with a blanket or stuffed animal as a child and do you still have that item? I still have a Teddy Bear named Patches, although he's packed away.

If you could give George Bush one piece of advice what would that be? Learn some humility.

What was the first car you ever drove? 1980 Datsun 210 Hatchback

How many speeding tickets have you had in your lifetime? Just one - in 1991, 71 in a 55, handed out in Dime Box, TX.

What question would you ask if I allowed you to have the #9 slot on this list? I'd ask for a music recommendation.

Has anyone seen the bridge? Has anyone seen the confounded bridge? What's this now? Music? Movie? What?

What do you have hanging on your office/cubicle walls at work? Looking around, I see: pictures of Joni Mitchell, Aretha Franklin, Sarah Vaughan, Ella Fitzgerald, progspawn, progdad, progdog, Joe Williams, Carmen McRae, Billie Holiday, Nina Simone. A Jazz Calendar. A 50s advertising calendar, a picture of me with Sting, a drawing by progspawn, a record label plaque thanking me for their support on their Grammy nominated titles, an autographed They Might Be Giants poster, an autographed Ramsey Lewis poster, a Frank Sinatra album cover, a "Rock n Roll gal" postcard. A large blow-up of a Terence Blanchard album, autographed to me: "Dear (progmom) - thank you for always being so nice!"

What was the name of your first imaginary friend - Wolfie

Styx or Journey - which tortures you more? Styx

Did you sleep with a blanket or stuffed animal as a child and do you still have that item? Yes. Snugglebunny.

If you could give George Bush one piece of advice what would that be? I think he's beyond advice. But I guess I would remind him that he's an advocate for American citizens, not for American business.

What was the first car you ever drove. My boyfriend taught me to drive in a pizza delivery car - I think it was an Escort.

How many speeding tickets have you had in your lifetime? 1

What question would you ask if I allowed you to have the #9 slot on this list? What's it all about, Alfie?

Has anyone seen the bridge? Has anyone seen the confounded bridge?
I think we may have gone a bridge too far.

19. Hope you have lots of fun with it
1) 7 1/2

2) Right now I have this ridiculous ad for Time Magazine that I stole from the subway. It looks like the map for a subway line, with "stops" labeled "N. Korea," "Greenspan," "Octopi," "Thelonius" (note variant spelling) and "Cheech."

During the 2004 campaign I had two images I'd printed off the net: John Kerry at an anti-war rally behind John Lennon, and his opponent in his TANG uniform, in that photo-shopped image where he's behind some beer taps, with the caption "Serving in the Air National Guard" :-)

3) I don't remember, but my folks remember me obsessing on the word "Adendaden."

4) They're both scrupulously horrible, but I can endure Styx when Dennis DeYoung isn't singing.

5) A two foot tall chimpanzee wearing a shirt that said "Zippy." It's long been lost to history. I think I tore its little button eyes out.

6) What Abe Lincoln said.

7) My mom's typical suburban station wagon, some Ford product.

8) Two. The parking tickets, however, are legion.

9) "How can I sneak in another Led Zeppelin reference for question #10?" :hi:

10) Bootsy Collins has seen it clearly, but consider what he was on at the time...

What size shoe do you wear - usually a 7, sometimes a 7 1/2

What do you have hanging on your office/cubicle walls at work - lots of stuff, mostly though my cubicle walls are covered in post cards from places me, my family and friends have been. When things at work are bad I can look at them and go off on a mini-mental vacation. :)

What was the name of your first imaginary friend - Nancy

Styx or Journey - which tortures you more? - I can't pick one. Styx is BAD and some of Journey's stuff is ok...but they also did "Open Arms" and I just can't forgive a thing like that.

Did you sleep with a blanket or stuffed animal as a child and do you still have that item? - yup, my god father gave me a stuffed dog the day I was born. Her name is Baby Dawg and I still have her...she's sitting on a bookshelf in my bedroom and I still cuddle her when I feel really really bad.

If you could give George Bush one piece of advice what would that be? - Duck.

What was the first car you ever drove - 1982 Lincoln Town Car. I passed my driving test, including parallel parking, in that behemoth. :)

How many speeding tickets have you had in your lifetime? - 3 I think. All in Texas - one in Muleshoe, one in San Angelo, and one in Post. Granted the last one was over a decade ago.

What question would you ask if I allowed you to have the #9 slot on this list? - If it takes a hen and a half a day and a half to lay an egg and a half...how long does it take a rooster sitting on a brass doorknob to hatch a hardware store?

Has anyone seen the bridge? Has anyone seen the confounded bridge? - I didn't do it.

Has anyone seen the bridge? Has anyone seen the confounded bridge? What bridge?

29. Me!
What size shoe do you wear

women's 6 or 6 1/2

What do you have hanging on your office/cubicle walls at work

No office--home office is a disaster

What was the name of your first imaginary friend

Never had one. My brother was close enough in age that I didn't need one

Styx or Journey - which tortures you more?

They're both okay

Did you sleep with a blanket or stuffed animal as a child and do you still have that item?

I had a blanket I called my "binny" and no, binny disappeared many years ago from falling apart.

If you could give George Bush one piece of advice what would that be?

Find a cotton sorting machine and throw himself in

What was the first car you ever drove

I think it was a Plymouth Volare which belonged to a friend, when I was learning how to drive

How many speeding tickets have you had in your lifetime?

2

What question would you ask if I allowed you to have the #9 slot on this list?

If you could rule the world, who would you take as your partner/mate/spouse?

Has anyone seen the bridge? Has anyone seen the confounded bridge?

I haven't seen any laying around recently, but I can direct you to the London Bridge if you need me to
