I'm sick and tired of
being sick and tired.
Into the third week of what is being called "The Foley (our town) Crud". Basically like a bad cold with chest congestion, no energy, general lethargy, and the blahs.

Finally went to the doc yesterday. It's a virus. Anti-biotics no good. Lungs are clear, no pneumonia. He prescribed some super heavy duty cough medicine and some decongestant pills.

Half the town seems to have it. Stopped in the Winn-Dixie pharmacy to get prescriptions filled and the whole store sounded like the TB ward, everybody coughing and wheezing.

Damn, I'm ready for this to be over.
:-(

1. Have you gotten a flu shot?
Not that it will help you with your current ailment, but at least it might prevent you from getting this sick again.

2. it's the FLU, not a cold. You're about at the end of it though. You
can still take some crap to relieve the symptoms.

VERY important to wash hands every 10 minutes, especially after going out, and decontaminate all surfaces in the house & car; toothbrush, doorhandles, clothes, etc, or else you will recontaminate yourself over and over again.

7. Nope, not flu.
Don't have the symptoms.
No aches or pains, no temp.
Don't even feel really bad.
Just blah.
Better this a.m. so maybe I'm on the way up?

3. Try A Good Bourbon
It might not be anti-viral but it will help your frame of mind and that's the number one prerequisite for the healing process.

4. Try Irish Nyquil
Hot tea, honey, lemon, and generous amounts of whisky. Also, lots of hot steamy showers will help clear your congestion.

8. Thanks, proles.
And thanks for the hug, but maybe you better not get THAT close.

I've found that mega doses of club soda liberally marinated in Scotch whiskey helps in the evenings.

9. Sounds like the Oregon Crud I had about
fifteen years ago.

Heavy chest congestion and a cough, no aches or fever, but extreme fatigue. I'd feel well enough to get up and teach my classes in the morning, but by about 1:00 PM, I'd be ready to crawl into bed. Half the faculty had it, and it lasted about three weeks.

By the end, it was really--and this is a strange word to use--BORING.

10. That's it.
The good news (according to the doc): I have now built up antibodies and can never never ever get THIS virus again.

The bad news: There are about a zillion OTHER viruses out there.
