Ask me anything.

4. Being (way) too negative.
I had an ex I posted about sometimes. I refered to him with profanity and sometimes the word "misogynist." I was almost done doing that--most of my anger having been purged and the healing process being well on its way to completion--when one of the mods decided she'd had enough of my "negative" and "toxic" influence. Which, well, in addition to the inappropriate negativity--which no one else on that website is being punnished for so far as I can tell--I think I've been basically kicked off there for pissing off her personally. That's more of a mystery to me. What I did to get on her bad side, that is. It's not possible to ask that right now (they don't allow that there and hey, I can't post). I'd actually be really curious to know. The staff there prides itself on fair treatment of its users.

6. Then you need to go to a site that prides themselves on
unfair treatment of its users. May I suggest Sybermoms?

7. What? Is that a real site? (I'm humor challenged.)
I just...I've never actually been BANNED, even temporarily, from a website before.

8. It is a real one
and I'm sure a few of them post here or at least read here.

It isn't for the delicate folks. If you're in the Lounge here, you'll probably survive there.

They don't ban people, btw.

11. Sybermoms is not for the feint of heart
That is for sure. I used to post there often when I was pregnant with my second.

As most of you know by now, that's not a part of my life.

15. Nope.
Most of them are, but there are some posters that aren't.

Pithlet was right. It is probably offensive to most people, but on the other hand, you won't get banned.

19. The upside is you can give a right smack bottom to someone who deserves it
and you don't have to pull punches. Something I wish I could do here, sometimes. Hmmm. Maybe I'll go back there after all.

rule at That Other Site was soooooooo difficult sometimes. Take what the general rules about civility are here and narrow them by a factor of twelve and that was the environment at the site that banned me. Frustrating.

22. True.
Sometimes I tend to take my SM attitude here, which really doesn't work.

SM and DU are the only place I post anymore. But really it's mostly here. I don't have time to hang at SM much. :hi: Maybe I'll see you there.

25. Yeah
:hi: I just don't have the time for multiple boards anymore, but I may just have to pop over there again for old times sake and see who's still hanging out there. I doubt anyone will remember me.

17. No
But that is primarily what is discussed. Politics and non-parenting related topics are discussed often, and there are a lot of witty, inteligent people there. It isn't your typical parenting board. They are weary of newbies, to put it mildly, and the pack mentality can be overbearing at times, so ease into the place and get a feel for it before you start posting, if you decide it's a place you like.

Sybermoms came about because another popular website for breastfeeding moms became very heavily moderated, and few members went off and started their own group. The only reason I don't post there now is because I've drifted away from all other boards except DU.

worry about why they do what they do.

We like you here, and that should be enough for you, yes?

20. Awwww. Thanks. That was nice of you to post.
I've been thinking it would be wise to just stick to the world of DU.com from now on. Posting on the other site, which doesn't allow discussion of government-related stuff, or social problems apparently, was getting to me. Awareness of those problems is a big part of my life, and pretending like I don't care, as so many other posters on that do not, was--it was irritating, to say the least.

5. See above.
I don't want to post its name. I might want to post there again someday--though I doubt I will. I understand that I broke a rule, but--the person who revoked my priviledges is a bit unbalanced and treating me unfairly if you ask me.

9. In your defense, a Mod can have a personality clash with a poster...
I haven't seen it here, but it happens often on the Delphi forums I have mine on.

about something that I suspected was outside the scope of the site, but like this? Not so much. Personally, I think the mod in question (who has a serious mental illness she's mentioned on those boards before) is having an episode. Nothing against those with similar issues, but being on the wrong end of someone's mood disorder is never a party, especially if it's for (relatively) arbitrary reasons.

At my own forum, if I'm in a depressed mood I have to worry it will affect the mood of the forum. Here I'm only one of thousands. :)

Is it wrong that my first thought when I saw the subject was "TWoP"? :P

Sometimes I think I'm the only person who hasn't been banned from there at one time or another.

13. It was NOT my beloved TWoP.
Which, frankly, is being moderated more evenly and fairly than the other place is at this point.

18. Ouch.
I find with TWoP it all depends on the thread. I mostly hang out in the basement ones so I guess that's why I've never had run-ins with the crazier mods.

Being banned from a hangout sucks. :(

26. Yup. And to put it in further perspective for you:
This mod is now behaving more crazily than Erin, Sars, or even the "dreaded" Miss Alli ever has. In my opinion, anyway--and I've been smacked around by all three of those other moderators at TWoP. I mean, once again, I understand that I broke the "be nice" rule, but--come on. Actually, now that I'm thinking about it, I can't help but wonder if I'm the only one having issues with the mod issues at that place. It's a sad day when I feel safer hanging out at TWoP than somewhere else.

28. Yeah. It's pretty bad.

Especially considering that while Miss Alli (from what I've seen) sometimes has, in my opinion, reasonable motives for her hatred of those who disagree with her. Uh, sometimes those who disagree with her are way out of line. (And yes, from what I've seen, sometimes they're not, and that sucks because she eviscerates the benign-but-of-a-different-mindset as harshly as she does the bigots, homophobes and flagrant rule-breakers.) The mod who banned me? Is being absolutely oppressive at this point in her insistence that everyone be "nice," "positive," "optimistic" and other things that she apparently isn't interested in being herself. Alli is preferable to me at this point.
