On spelling and grammar

Three gents were drinking apple martinis in a bar and had gotten to the stage of arguing about details.

“I tell you it’s spelled W-O-O-M,” the first said loudly.

“No no, no,” the second protested. “It’s W-O-O-0-M.’

“You’re both wrong,” the third ventured.

“I say it’s W-O-O-M-B.”

A gynecologist passing spoke up. “You’re getting close,” she told them. “Actually, it’s W-O-M-B.”

They stared at her a moment, then stared at each other. Finally one spoke:

“Madam,” he said, “it’s obvious that you’ve never heard an elephant fart.”

1. Bravo!

And yes, I've heard AND smelled an elephant fart. Not a metaphorical Republican elephant, for I believe Republicans are too dignified to fart, which leads to all sorts of bad public policies while they're sitting around tables and trying to pinch them in. But rather an actual elephant, making the stinkiest explosion you can imagine. The sound was less W-O-O-O-M and more a sort of liquidy flapflapflapflap.

5. well, "solider" is good enough for scrabble

meaning "more solid" than something else,

and "solid" can be defined as

"1. Of definite shape and volume; not liquid or gaseous.
2. Firm or compact in substance."

A synonym might be: dense.

So, "it's about the soliders" means that those people are more dense than other people? :shrug:
