The EMMYS
Some observations:

Man Jay Leno really got dissed TWICE last night. First Dave does the Carson tribute then Jon Stewart (relax Jon you have the job when Dave leaves, if you want it) says that Dave is to comedians of his age what Johnny was. Never saw Leno on screen after that.

SHATNER GOT ROBBED!!! Their rendition of the Star Trek theme was imaginative and creative.

Arquette-I'll leave it to others to comment on the dress. I have watched a couple episodes of "Mimic" and okay show in this era I guess (one show had a guy playing a cop doing some of the worst acting *I* have ever seen) and seemed to be getting its legs underneath of it but I was surprised that she was nominated let alone that she won.

THE KID- they had the 9 year old kid from New Orleans on ( a great moment of clarity in that chaos "What is the matter with you people?!?!?!") he is adorable.

Law & Order's S. Epatha Merkerson offered the best moment of the night. She was clearly SHOCKED to win for Lackawanna Blues and her acceptance speech fell down the front of her dress (had it stashed in her bra) very funny.

Ellen... it really wasn't that funny but I understand that it was understated given recent events. The Magnolia as the Katrina ribbon is ingenuous.

1. Stewart did a take on Merkerson
he was up next and said he too had a speech and started to reach in his pants.

How about Blythe Danner giving a shout to bringing the troups home! What a class-act woman!!

I don't get how Arquette won over Frances Conroy. I think Diebold was involved in the counting!

4. Yeah I couldn't believe that one
The Blythe Danner moment was nicely done (what would I expect). My wife has been watching "Huff" on demand and loves it.

Arquette actually had a nice thing to say "I know I am here and you are there but my only wish is that you are able to come home safe and sound" -something linke that. Well said.

2. Shatner got robbed? But he won an emmy!
I didn't watch the show at all, though, so perhaps something else happened.

And I will add that Donald Trump's Green Acres song was fucking great!

(I saw some highlights on TV this morning)

5. Emmy Idol
They did classice theme songs

Trump and the woman from Will and Grace did "Green Acres" - first

Then they (someone) did the theme from "Fame"

Then Macy Gray and the guy from CSI did "The Jeffersons"

THAN Shatner and a opera singer did "Star Trek". Shatner did the "Space...." part and the opera singer sang the tune. It was VERY funny.

When the voting was announced..cut to Shatner (mouth open) audience howled with laughter.

She seems rather wooden to me in that role.

I was glad Felicity Huffman won. IMHO, the most talented cast member by far.

He's a nice guy and good for an occasional safe chuckle, but that's about it. Sadly for Jay, that won't ever make him a comedy legend.

10. I posted this last night but watching that sour pussed, Albertson's shill
Bu$hbot from Everybody Loathes Raymond having to hand Stewart one of his trophies made me larf, loudly! I think she turned away from him so quickly it ripped the soles from her shoes off.

I missed Spader's acceptance speech, dammit. He was hilarious last year.

12. Spader was funny
He thanked his mother twice because he forgot to thank her last year. He said she had to watch all his sexing and craziness of years gone by while his father didn't. He then said that his father and David Kelly would have a lot in common-Kelley is a great writer, his father was a great reader. They both loved fishing and the Red Sox and being off alone by themselves (knowing laughs from the audience).

It was really funny the way he did it.

That I recall she is extremly conservative and prim. I heard her voice an anti-choice comment years ago and have ignored her and the show ever since. Sorry Ray, you weren't that funny either. Her character was wooden too.(when I watched it befor the comment)

 :grr: :(

She should have rallied till her last breath to keep that show on the air, because I predict outside of her Albertsons ads, she won't work again. If she does, it will be forgettable, bullshit movies no one will care about. :woohoo:

She and Schwartzenegger will start to feel the ever so cold shoulder of Hollywood when you get a tad too vocal about your conservative tendecies...she worked more BEFORE she came out as a repuke...I'm glad she came out, now I don't have to see her anymore.

She can go drink a big steaming mug of shut the f*** up! Silicon bushbot, that she is!

Knew her brother, a writer for the PD...

She's an ass hole....

Her dad was a sports columnist for the PD.... She lived one suburb over and she sang in the choir and I did too....

We would join together for a song every year....

she can't act for shit....

And her character made that show unwatchable....

Man, could you imagine being married to that>>>>>>>>>

37. God - I also am SO SICK OF RAYMOND...I
never thought it was funny anyway. I was totally bummed that our CBS affiliate her in L.A. showed in one of their promo commercials (BEFORE the award was announced) that Arquette had won. I was wanting Francis Conroy for Six Feet Under to win and they RUINED it by the spoiler. I called the statation today and complained on their comment line. I don't watch much network T.V. so I was again disappointed that SFU didn't win anything. :-(

41. No one saying Ian McShane was f#cking robbed?
Sorry, folks who think Arrested Development is the best show on TV, but in my opinion, it's topped by Deadwood. And they were robbed. "Lost" is a lot of fun, but GD C$cks%ckers can't hold a candle to Deadwood.

Okay I'm obsessed. And yes, we drove 9 hours each direction out of our way last week on vacation to see the town of Deadwood and visit the Mt. Moriah cemetary. But it's still a f%cking great show.

(true story: My SO was getting a haircut before our vacation, and mentioned to his barber that we were going to visit Deadwood. "Ever see the show?" he asks the barber. "Nah," the barber replies with a totally straight face. "Too much f*cking cursing."
