The Official "Convince Bertha to Show Up at the Hawk 'n' Dove" Thread
Why do I need convincing? Because unlike folks coming in from out of town, I have to work that day, and my days are very stressful, and all I want to do after work -- especially on a Friday -- is start that two-hour drive home.

I really do want to go but my god, thinking of staying in town any later than I have to -- honestly, for whatever reason; it's not you, I swear! -- is very stressful. And I'm going to have to cab over and I get sick in cabs.

So twist my arm. I've already heard from Progmom. Anyone else?

(BTW, Mrs. V. can't be there. We're having our house painted so she's working at home all week.)

3. You know... that is a lame excuse for Mrs V staying home...
she's working at home all week because the house is being painted... um... will they still be painting on Friday night or even Saturday night? Come on! You must convince her to come along too. :hi:

5. It would take 1.5 - 2 hours to drive home to pick her up.
Then 1.5 hours (no traffic by then) to come back to town. Do you see, MisU? *wan smile*

6. Nope... I don't see... :)... In any case, I don't see why you wouldn't....
at least come to the party. How could you even THINK to miss the opportunity? You don't even have to fly. None of that wan smiling... I expect to see you there.

I'm kinda timid about social activities, but on the occasions that I've forced myself to go (even when too tired) I've always been glad I did.

7. Bertha, you can hang out at our hotel until you go
If you want to take a shower and freshen up you can use our room. Too tired to drive home? Crash at our place.

And I would suspect there are about a dozen other folks staying at the CapHill Suites who echo exactly what I'm saying.

I'm PMing you my cell phone. Call me if you want to stop by before the event. Hell, fake an illness and leave 2-3 hours early so we can spend more time with you!!

I could park at your hotel, not have to cab back so far to my parking place.

Hey - will there be nametags w/ user names on them? Or something? Because I'm terrible w/ names....

11. Unfortunately problem with parking - $28
But I'm sure there are plenty of parking garages in the area. We're near the Capital Hill South Metro. You have my cell phone- call me from there

y'know, I can take the Metro, from Foggy Bottom to E. Cap. Hill.... I don't get nearly as sick on the train as I do in a cab. Hmm.
