Rough Mix- Peter Townshend and Ronnie Lane
One of the great lost albums of the past 30 years, IMO. I've been playing the hell out of it the past 3 days, and added Ronnie Lane's beautifully touching song "Annie" to the show tonight.

This really should be heard by more people; although Townshend's stuff on the CD is hit and miss, his best songs here ("My Baby Gives It Away", "Street In The City") is up to his best songs. And Lane's songs are just beautiful, ramshackle folk music; "Annie" and "April Fool" are gorgeous songs.

I really miss Ronnie Lane; the was one of the good ones..

1. Agreed, a great record.
Snaps also to the weird toilet plunger shuffle "Misunderstood." And didn't Pete also do the Jim Reeves tune "'Til the Rivers All Run Dry," on that one?

I had that on vinyl, but sold it along with others for rent when I was 22.

I have to get it back.

Thanks.

2. yep
The album just rolls like a river in it's best moments; Clapton, Watts, Lane Townshend and the other players just sound likr they are having a blast playing these songs.

I love "Misunderstood", too; there's really not a song on the album I don't like..

5. You should
It's a minor masterpiece, IMO. And Ronnie's albums w/ his backing band Slim Chance from the 70's isn't in print anymore, but the CD "Live In Austin" from his shows there in the late 80's is a great substitute.

I can't say enough about him; he was just a great songriter and musician, and an even better human being..

9. I'm kinda scattered,
but The Gourds "Dem's Good Beeble" popped into my head.

Or Supersuckers.

My tastes are...widely varied.

10. Holy shit!
You like The Gourds? I've got "Plaid Coat" in my rotation; "Dems..." along w/ "Stadium Blitzer" are still my 2 favorite records by them. And "When Wine Was Cheap" is still in my top 10 favorite songs of all-time..

12. It's fantastic stuff
Everybody knows their take of Snoop's "Gin And Juice", but that just scratched the surface of what kind of band they are...

14. When I was a college DJ I used to do a show with a female friend
of mine. She absolutely hated the song "My Baby Gives it Away." I used to sneak it in once in awhile just to piss her off.

Enigmatic, tell me about your radio show. How do I hear it?

15. You can hear it here
http://www.radioenigma.com

Click on Listen, then click on the little yellow speaker; you can use your player of choice, but the Live365 player is fine; no spyware.

My overnight show is just me playing everything I want; it doesn't matter what it is. I just mix everything up and let it roll:)

Radio Enigma is such a blast to do; we've got a nice, lyal group of listeners from around the world..
