My letter was printed in the Deseret News!
Edited on Thu Jul-24-03 03:51 AM by Sean Reynolds
I wrote this like at 3 in the morning, surprised they printed it.

Ads no worse than beach
I guess someone forgot to tell Pauline West that there is a little something we call freedom of speech in this country.
If she is so offended by crudeness, nudity, vulgarity and immorality, maybe she should just ignore such offenses. I can't say that I've seen the advertisement she is talking about, but if it's only about swimwear, I've got to wonder if she's ever gone swimming or to the beach.

On edit, here is her letter she sent on the 20th of this month:

2. Funny how she singles out one aspect
of an advertisement, when you'd think you'd want a picture of a woman in a bathing suit. Let's flip straight past the big breasted women trying to sell furniture, or beer, and go straight for the swim wear "ooo those hussies makes the Old Testament blood in these Christian veins boil up, this would never happen if clinton had been impeached"

3. where was the ad?
I'm SICK of the Foley's bra and panties ads in the Dallas Morning News - right there on the pages with news about the war. I don't find them "offensive" per se but I just don't think they should be in Section A of the paper!!!

5. Of course they printed it -- you defended their ad department.
Your sentiments are on-the-nose but I think when you defend a newspaper you're more likely to get it printed. Next time, throw in a segue about the BFEE. Something like "I think the Deseret News has the coolest typeface. It reminds me of how the Bush administration provoked the attack on 9/11... etc."

6. Great post, Sean Reynolds! LOL!
I agree with what nuxvomica suggested. Now that you're in their good graces, you can maybe slip in a little subtle propaganda.:-)
