11. That's what I do, too!
I tried and tried...to make decent crusts....and failed...

So one day, I said to hell with this, and started buying them...

Never looked back, either......My family can't tell the difference, anyhow......

I love making my own fillings though...:pals:

9. i use the same recipe everytime
3cups of flour 1 cup of butter flavored crisco
a tsp. salt.
first your flour and salt then your crisco cut
up...i use my hands.
then 7 to 9 Tbls. of ice cold water
then shape it into a ball cut it in half
and use half for the bottom crust the other half
for the top crust.
I roll it out between wax paper easier to pick it
up that way.
The secret is not to play with the dough long.

If you were here id have you making pies in
no time.

17. Then go for
9 Tbls. of ice cold water i usually put ice cubes
in the water.
but less water in a crust makes a flakier crust.

20. Where do you live? Can we all come over?
My sister always teases me because I use Pillsbury ready made crusts instead of from scratch.

I've never made an apple pie, but I make a pretty good custard pie. My grandmother always made custard pie for me, and I hadn't had one since she died about 30 years ago. Earlier this summer, I decided to teach myself how to make custard pies. Now I'm happy again!
