I know there are many more than these. Everyone likes at least one Monkee's tune.

We moved to the bosom of suburbia when that song came out.......

It is surprising how many good tunes they had in those few years.

they REALLY do hold up.

"What Am I doing Hanging Round" is probably my favorite.

I cannot remember the name of the singer that recorded it. But she did an amazing cover of it.

that compressed the song into about 90 seconds of speed metal. That was pretty cool.

It's there somewhere. I love that tune. We recorded it or the first album but didn't put it on there so it ended up on our second one.

If I have to say so, I think we did a good job.

I have played with him forever. Since we were 8 or 9 (1973 or so). The guy fucking kicks.

That was recorded for the first album, but we didn't have the rights. We do now..:)

My favorite of theirs is a relatively unknown song.

"That Was Then, This Is Now" released in the 80's.

Kept my hero John Stewart in cigarette money for years. Probably still does - that song still shows up in movies set in that era.

BTW, according to "My Generation", that was the only song ever to make it to #1 twice as a cover, the 2nd time being by Anne Murray.
