why does the GOP have an animal that Hindu's worship as its mascot?

why does the GOP have an animal that Hindu's worship as its mascot?
why haven't they changed it to a lamb or some other animal from the bible if the GOP is the party of christian family values?

2. How Ganesh got an elephant's head
Once upon a time, Lord Shiva's wife, Parvati, wanted to take a bath. Her husband was not at home, so she made a boy out of sandalwood soap to guard the door. Lord Shiva came home, and the boy woulnd't let him in.

There was a fight, and Lord Shiva cut off the guard's head. Parvati got mad and insisted that the guard be re-animated, so Lord Shiva found a sleeping white elephant, cut off its head, and put it on Ganesh. Parvati also insisted that Ganesh be made a god of the highest rank, and so today Ganesh has an elephant head.

3. I like elephants!
It's not the poor creatures' fault that the repugs use them for a symbol. Free the elephants from the GOP!
