3. But imagine if the million or so 24/7 stores weren't 24/7,
how many billions of barrels of oil that would save every year.

If all stores were required to close from, let's say, 9 pm to 6 am, we'd save so much goddamned oil, that gasoline for the car would go down to $2 a gallon. Buton the other hand, it might go up to $5 a gallon.

But, whatever the fuck happens, if we stopped stores from their utterly unecessary 24/7 bullshit, we'd save a shitload of environmental destruction.

A FUCKING SHITLOAD!!

4. They are pretty much at full force anyway since that
is when they restock, polish the floors and set up displays...

And, they need to run the coolers and keep the temperature the same as well......

Why not keep it open so they an at least recoup some of their money....

The store I go to cuts down all unnecessary lighting....

So, I don't see the problem......

5. My local Ralphs is open 24/7........
And I have gone in there late once in a while...I feel safe enough, but often the aisles are cluttered with these enormous plastic wrapped pallets that are waiting to be unloaded....

But there aren't any crowds...and that is a definite PLUS!

:hi:

7. 24/7 stores are the best.
You know how much they saved me from my cravings of certain flavors of ice cream or various other products?

I wouldn't know what to do if Coborn's decided to close at 10 pm like the other local store. I'd go  !

16. Whaaa???
Westgate is gone? Damn, my first job I got paid over the table at was at The Westwood Dining Room inside og Higbee's at Westgate; I was a bus boy. Man, that place had some good memories for me; is the Loews West and Brown Derby just west of there still around, too? How about the Rustic Restuarant?

17. All that is left is the Rustic....
The leow's left about ten years ago....

Brown Derby about the same time....

The BD is an all you can eat buffet place and the Loew's is a chistian super store......

Great Northen has about 225 store now and so Westgate just couldn;t compete....

They took out the two hub stores, Halle's and Higbee's and are gonna try and recreate the old Westgate that was an outdoor mall, if you can remember that....

We ate at the Rustic a few weeks ago... Those Reagalsburgers are still fucking great after all these years.....

18. I barely remember that
But if it's going to revive the area, that's cool. My best friend's Mom worked at The BD for years; I loved that place.

I used to go into the RR once or twice a week when I was working at Westgate and eat; I used to see Tom Haley there all the time..

20. Want to hear something strange
In Rochester, MN, the home of the famous Mayo Clinic, there are NO 24 hour pharmacies...none.

How did I find this out? We were in Rochester for my son's baseball tournament, and my daughter had a severe asthma attack and we ran out of neb solution. I had to drive 2 hours back home to get more.

Good one!

We still will have one of the best pitching staffs in the league next year though...

Hopefully Terry Ryan will come through with some offense for a change.

The two large employers in the area are the Mayo Clinic and IBM. For a city of almost 100,000 people, it sure acts like it is Podunk, Nowhere!
