1. 1 out of 3 americans will develop cancer
1 out of 4 if you exclude the skin cancers

considering the number of victims involved, it is was inevitable that some relative of some victim would have cancer

we need better technology

9. It's more like 40% will develop cancer
1 in 3 women and 1 in 2 men.

17. i stand corrected
my numbers are old

in any case it sounds like it would be more odd if none of the victims ever acquired cancer

3. Oh, but "God never gives us more than we can handle,"
:eyes:

That phrase is grounds for an ass-whooping, in my experience.

5. You have a point.
I mean, it's like, God says, "Let's see if you can handle a 747 crashing into your office space." That would be a bit too much to handle, per se.

4. That's sad
I noticed he has no health insurance.

snip: Danny Otero, who lives in Glendale, Ariz., learned of his cancer shortly after returning from Rader's sentencing in Wichita last month. He does not have health insurance, but will begin six weeks of daily chemotherapy.

7. I'm sorry
This government certainly doesn't give a damn about taking care of its own citizens. War and profiteering are its priorities.

13. Awwww... the bnky is the least of my worries
I had pristine credit for 25 years, worked it the credit industry for 10. When I found out I had cancer, I pretty much quit using the 2 cards I had. I had a loan out for dental work and continued to pay that until it was paid off.

When I was diagnosed, I was unemployed. I had to quit filing unemployment ($828 per month) and was given $339 a month for living expenses by the state for the next 3 months. My rent went unpaid. I signed up for section 8 (housing) in July of 2001.

When SSDI kicked in, I got retro payments for the first 3 months, but 3 x $339 went to pay Wa state. I got $850 in SS payments and only paid partial rent. Section 8 was able to accommodate me finally in MAY *2003*-nearly 2 years after I applied. Thank you Ronald Reagan.
Monday I had to call my landlord to find out how much I owed his company. I feel bad about that.

MBNA can kiss my ass though. I had a balance of $6000 and they wrote off a balance of over $8500, even though they KNEW i was deathly ill and had no wherewithal. BOA surprisingly enough was much gentler, and quit calling as soon as they had verified my condition with my atty and never sent the acct to collectrolls.

I filed bnky NOW, because the new law would *REQUIRE* me to sit through credit counseling classes. :grr: I could teach those motherfucking classes. I hate what banks and thugs have done to my country.

No cancer for now anyway...

8. So sorry, miss_kitty
 is the only thing I can offer.

I've read several things over the years that correlate prolonged high stress with cancer. I'm not sold but it is an interesting theory.

14. Thanks.
the bnky is the end of a long trail (see above).

I do believe stress is a contributing factor, although I did not have big money stresses in my life before I was diagnosed.

You'd be surprised what the US medical people don't accept as contributing factors, that are accepted outside this country. I had theories (based on me researching my cancer-a rare cancer and coming to conclusions based on what I like to refer to as 'logic' and 'common sense') My doctors poo-pooed my conclusions. I was quite surprised to find that Britsh MDs had been touting MY conclusions as causal for quite some time.

There is also new evidence that an overall feeling of helplessness about 18 mos before discovery is present-which I think I had...

12. Oh miss-kitty
I'm so sorry. I hope you are well now.

Our country is filled with greedy sobs who consider their profits more important than people's lives. We need national health care.

I hope things get better for you.

15. Thank you
things will get better for me. I have learned so much about life and doing stuff since I was ill. The cancer is gone, but I have had health problems arising from the treatment, which have prevented me from returning to work, but that might be getting better as well-fingers crossed!

10. Huh?
Are you saying he caught Cancer because his relative was murdered by BTK?

Yeah, that's why I'm a diabetic...My last wife made me homeless for 2 weeks before I found a rental...

And I thought it was Genetics....
