Poll question: What's Your Favorite Accessory To Thanksgiving Dinner?
Aside from the turkey, what is your favorite thing on the table when you and yours spread out for the big meal?

6. Fresh Cranberry recipes are a personal fav
It'll be either

- Cranberry relish with fresh cranberries, orange, apple, little sugar

- Brandied Cranberry compote with nuts, pinapple and the aforementioned brandy. ;-)

I can't understand why people use that fake canned cranberry jello.

11. Unless you live in Detroit
Sure, we started the tradition of the Thanksgiving Day football game, but the Lions have been so bad for so long, it just gives you an upset stomach to watch them on T-day.

Betcha watch or go to the game, anyway. My brother and his wife have been promoted to elves around Santa's sleigh at the parade this year! I'm so proud.

9. I love it all, but I vote for the wine also.
My personal favorite is a Hungarian red wine, Egri Bikaver. I'm not a fan of white wines in the first place, and Egri is a full-bodied, strongly flavored red, and for those of you who already like reds, give it a try. The flavors of turkey dinner work very, very well with it.

12. Lemon-apricot cake
My mom makes the most amazing cake and she pretty much only does it at Thanksgiving. It's regular old Lemon cake with apricot nectar and some other stuff added into the mix. You cook it in a bundt oan and right after it gets out of the oven you take it out of the pan, put it on a plate, and then spoon a mix of apricot nectar, sugar, and a couple of other things over the top. It forms this amazing soft crust on the top. I'm not describing it very well but it's moist and yummy and this amazing combination of flavors with the apricot and lemon. *drool*

20. Gravy!
I make about a gallon of the stuff and use it until christmas, at which time I make some more. Turkey gravy is special, no idea why. Probably something in the neck/giblet/misc broth. Even my mom's turkey gravy is good, and she can't cook worth a damn.

39. Candied Sweet Potatoes......MMMM!
Later on, when I can muster up the energy to drag myself back to the kitchen.....fried stuffing. So delicious! Make the stuffing into a burger-sized patty and pan fry it in butter.
When I make my stuffing the day before I ALWAYS have to do a fried stuffing quality check. ;)

40. Stuffing!
Cornbread, plain; in the turkey, around the turkey, in a separate pan... I don't care... I just want a LOT!

I know red wine is better for you but I just can't handle it... I go with a riesling usually, after the meal with dessert. Mmmmmmm.
