I'm taking the LSAT tomorrow!
Edited on Fri Sep-30-05 07:38 AM by eyesroll
Wish me luck!

Oh, and on edit: If I attend law school locally, I will be matriculating in Sensenbrenner Hall!

(Named after F. Jim's grandfather, a benefactor.)

1. Good luck!
I'm enrolling in a paralegal course myself. Two more DUers on the right side of the law perhaps!

2. Cool. Best of luck to you, too!
I'm seriously thinking about studying Constitutional law. Witnessing some mangling of it here yesterday just cemented that a little further...

4. I'm also taking the advanced course if I can.
The first two classes will be advanced legal research and constitutional law. If I have trouble getting a job in the field, I'm going to volunteer for the Texas Civil Rights Project.

6. Best of luck!
You've probably read all this already, but here are some tips that helped me. Eat a good breakfast tomorrow morning. Read something before the exam to get your brain in gear. Wear layered clothing in case the testing room is too hot or cold. Take snacks to eat at breaks.

Answer all the questions; don't skip any! Play to your strengths (I sucked at logic games, but kicked butt on reading comp and the writing sample).

Don't listen to ANYONE outside the exam room. Take your iPod or whatever and do your own thing. You'll find this technique very helpful during law school exam periods, as well; there are always obnoxious classmates who want to do thorough postmortems on the exam when it's too late to do anything about it!

Best of luck - you'll do great! :hi:

10. Thanks for the tips!
I got to know and love logic games -- I tested a 7/24 on the first try, but am up to 18-22, especially when "beads on a string," "roads connecting villages" or "books on two shelves" show up. (Not so much for the "if A, then B" ones.) I'm not too worried about the writing sample, as I write for a living, can do so coherently during a time crunch, and it's not scored anyway.

I've taken practice sections in horrible conditions -- including in my BF's poorly lit bedroom, while his daughter howled (didn't want to go to sleep) in the next room; on a train; with my parrots squawking non-stop; and in dead, brightly-lit silence.

21. My sister's boyfriend said she wouldn't see him for the two months
leading up to it, because he'll be spending all of his not-at-work time preparing. (I think it's less that he needs all of his out-of-work tiem to prepare, and more that he's a Top 10 law grad and doesn't want to be embarassed about not passing.)

Diploma privilege is a good thing.

31. Got that!
And tonight, I'm staying in my place (and my upstairs neighbors have assured me they'll go somewhere else if they need to be loud) instead of staying with my BF, with whom I can normally sleep very soundly, but he has his daughter tonight. She's 3 and it's a crapshoot whether she sleeps through the night in her own bed or wakes up crying every hour.

I am thinking about taking it. Did you take a course to prepare? If so, was it worth it?

30. I didn't take a course -- I just looked at a couple of books
We'll see if I should have taken the course...but I figure I learn well on my own, and my first practice score was decent enough to get me in where I want to go.

The best thing to do, from what everyone says, is take as many sample tests as possible, because your comfort level with the format, your speed and your ability to recognize the test writers' patterns will help more than anything.
