Parents Try To Get Children Out Of School With Bats
Edited on Fri Sep-30-05 12:47 PM by matcom
Actual news story headline. Has me :rofl: - slightly misleading no? :D

<snip>

PAXTON, Fla. -- Some parents are still trying to get their children out of a Paxton school with a bat problem.

The parents accuse the Walton County School District of exposing children to health risks from the winged rodents and their droppings. The parents also want officials to move their children from parts of Paxton School where bats have been found.

But Superintendent of Schools Carlene Anderson says the problem is under control. The School Board unanimously voted to accept Andersons recommendation that the children stay where they are. Board members note that the students already are scheduled to move into a new facility by late October.

But eight parents are in favor of removing the students. Their lawyer plans to make a claim for more than $15,000 in negligence damages with the Florida Department of Education and then sue if it's rejected.

Paxton is just south of the Florida-Alabama state line about 60 miles northeast of Pensacola.

5. I thought giant magical bats swooped in
to yank the kids off the playground and take them home.
