Michigan fans/Ohio State fans
Edited on Fri Nov-14-03 03:44 PM by AWD
Tomorrow begins the week of "The Game" (cue the music).

For both teams, and their fans, everything changes starting around 630pm-7pm (the minute their respective games with Northwestern and Purdue end).

The DU Lounge will be running a-plenty with jokes geared towards both sides, and it should ALWAYS be reiterated that these are just jokes. Nothing is to be taken personally and low blows are not welcome.

Should Ohio State survive the Purdue game with a win and Michigan survive the Northwestern game with a win, "The Game" will feature two Top 5 teams for the first time in a LONG time. This year's game should be a war not seen since the days of Woody and Bo.

That being said, Ohio State fans WILL do their best to keep it all in check and leave it all on the field. No personal attacks, no cheap shots. We all represent each other in this, so let's keep it clean.

Michigan fans WILL do their best to keep it all in check and leave it all on the field. No personal attacks, no cheap shots. You all represent each other in this, so let's keep it clean.

27 hours before we go to war with each other....let's not act like it actually IS a war. Leave that to semi-suspended Miami players.

Sign in, Buckeye fans and Wolverine fans.

2. What? They're playing other games this weekend?
There IS no other game: Linfield. Willamette. Salem. Playoff berth on the line. The third-ranked and undefeated Wildcats travel to McCulloch Stadium for their annual donnybrook with the Bearcats. Winner heads to the Division III playoff. Loser goes home.

Go Linfield!

And someone should inform "Northwest" that there have been a couple of additions to the country since the early 19th century.

..they're located in the southwest part of the county.

Matter of fact, I can't find a single place where they'd be in the Northwest part of it.

6. Yikes
You should definitely take that into account while you're running your campaign: Not every voter in the district is a Rhodes scholar.

By the way, how's the campaign going?

Speaking engagements scheduled in a few places (but DAMMIT the Medina County HQ doesn't f-ing know how to return calls)

"DUers For Congress" fundraiser in 2 weeks here...raising money for me, Vince Whitacre and Charlie Crystle.

Of course, should either by some miracle get to the Sugar Bowl, they will just be completely dominated by Oklahoma...

12. I'm not ready to hand it to Oklahoma yet...
....just as I wasn't ready to hand it to Miami last year, when all the college talking heads said Ohio State had no chance.

13. Ohio State had a thing called Clarett last year
Which gave them a decent running attack...which I've seen no real evidence of, despite pounding the hell out of Indiana. Oklahoma has played several tough opponents this year and beat the tar out of all of them...and I mean hard. Embarassing, in fact.

Of course, Navarre will just throw 28 interceptions on his first 30 passes against Oklahoma, so the Wolverines won't fare any better...maybe if he didn't choke in big games I might have some faith in him...

16. I seen him lead his troops for one hell of a comeback
They were down 28-7 against Minnesota going into the 4th quarter, they won 38-35. Navarre also did great against Michigan State which I considered a big game because Mich State was #1 in the Big 10 at the time. He is doing great this year imo, he is completing 58% of his passes, he has 2,494 passing yards, 19 touchdowns-8 interceptions.

19. You had to go and mention that game..
As a native born Minnesotan and having attended 'The U' I was crushed by that. The jug was so close. Not since I was there and Chip Lohmiller kicked it thru the uprights--and yet, in the end..

The Goph's Coug'ed it!

Football in Minnesota can break your heart. At least since 1960--which was before my time.

18. Clarett was only around...
....for 9 of the 14 games last year. I give him plenty of snaps for his season, but he's not the reason we won it all.

Our defense is. And it's better than last year's.

Oklahoma is playing the best football in the NCAA this year. But I'm not handing them anything yet.

14. I believed Ohio State had a chance
Miami didn't look unbeatable at all. They lost to Florida State by a missed field goal that was wide right, they were tied at 10 with Rutgers going into the 4th quarter then unloaded scoring 40 something points. They barely beat Pittsburgh and Virginia Tech as well as Tennessee and Florida. The only close game Oklahoma was in was against Alabama and that was just the second week of the season, most teams tend to get better as the season rolls along.

Because your losing streak against the Buckeyes is about to be 3 in a row.

Tressel vs. Carr= Buckeye Domination

You had it during the Cooper years, now you pay back all of that karma.

As long as the S/G get by Purdue this weekend, next Saturday in A2 should be a good one.

Official Buckeye karma now engaged - "Navarre, throw it to the guys from Ohio...."

Good luck everyone! (especially Alabama tomorrow)
