Have you ever seen someone who looked just like someone who died?
Happened to me the other day at work. From behind, this guy looked just like a friend of mine who died last spring (45, had a heart attack and died alone at home :( ). It made my heart just pound until he turned around and I saw that it wasn't him - which I knew but it's such a wierd feeling.

It's happened one other time, too - so strange.

1. My mom did
My mom and dad lived on a farm way out in the country -- long driveway, off a small, two-lane road. Mom stayed there a year after Dad died, just to prove to herself that she could.

Late one night in the winter after Dad died, the dog started barking and someone knocked on the front door. Mom went to the door, looked out the small window, and flipped the porch light on.

Dad was standing there on the porch.

She jumped back and her heart flew up in her throat. But when she looked out again, it wasn't Dad, it was my brother, who she wasn't expecting, and who happens to look just like Dad did when he was younger.

2. Yes
a couple times, and soon after the individual deaths. There really was an uncanny resemblance. The shaky physical reactions in the heart and stomach..yeah, weird feeling captures the experience.

3. very strange and unsettling
I have not experienced that - but periodically throughout my life I have had intense and vivid dreams about random people that I had met but did not know very well - and the next day I would learn they had passed the same day.

4. I've seen my brother drive past me

He died on my birthday in '88. He was 40. I see his face occasionally.

A sketch artist wandering around the farmer's market did a sketch of me for ten bucks last year. When he was done and I looked at it, I freaked. He'd sketched my brother. I had no idea I had so much of him in me.

5. I occasionally see my dad
who died in 1977. Even after all these years, when I see someone who looks like him, my heart jumps into my throat! Dang, I miss him!

7. Yes
My ex husband's best friend looked just like my grandfather when he was young. Of course, I'd only ever seen pictures of my grandfather as a young man, but the resemblance was indeed uncanny. The first time my mom met him she looked like she'd seen a ghost.
