Cheer me up. I'm depressed.
I'm cleaning all the pain pills out of my system, and my body is coming back alive (a combination of arthritis pain and pulled teeth is the culprit).

Until all the chemicals are gone, I'm going to be going slightly mad. But I've been on this crap for too long, and it's built up in my system. Every once in a while I have to cut myself off for a couple weeks to regain my physical balance. And of course that means mental chaos and depression for a while, besides the return of the pain.

I'm not as strong a fighter as I used to be. It's getting harder to accept the pain instead of doping it up. It's especially hard when every step taken is a reminder that my bones are crumbling into dust.

(See what I mean by depressed? This sucks.)

This will make you think back to when you may have been a cocky, arrogant little shithead in your youth!

Maybe you can laugh at how much you've grown up?

17. i'll send a hug
but seriously why do you have to "clear yr system" if you have arthritis

why is yr life improved by being in pain for a "couple weeks" ever so often?

does yr doctor know you do this?

i think you should not interrupt yr medications for conditions such as arthritis & major depression

it's that puritan streak in america, for some reason we think it is healthy to suffer, it is NOT

there is nothing wrong in being pain-free & you deserve to be pain-free

please re-assure me that yr doctor has signed off on this plan or i'll worry

20. Because the pain medication builds up in my system
Edited on Sat Oct-01-05 09:17 PM by Prisoner_Number_Six
I end up sleeping until after noon, and wandering around in a fuzzy haze the rest of the day, and I don't get any work done.

The longer you take pain medication, the more of a tolerance your system builds up, and you end up needing to take more to get the job done. It can lead to addiction and mess you up.

It's especially hard when you're a recovered alcoholic like me-- you start enjoying the buzz too much, and start taking the pills just to feel it.

There is no happy medium. There's just dealin' with it.

26. Keep affirming your Strength and Courage, in the face of your
Pain. Try some deep breathing exercises to move through your discomfort.

Remember: this, too, shall pass. It will get easier for you as your body adjusts to being off the meds.

Good luck and be gentle with yourself.

All the best,
~Shine
