How old were you when you first started talking?
I was late, around 3 years. Anyone else?

1. Don't remember.
One of my girls was late at talking (about 3) and early at walking (10 mo.). The other one was early at talking (1) and late at walking (1 1/2). They're both grown up and walk and talk just fine now. The late talker never shuts up!

:hi:

3. Well, you had all that stuff to say for three years.
It'll take the rest of your life to get it all out!

Actually, I don't know how common it is. Our grandson started talking before 2 and still talks a blue streak. He just turned 4, so it's too early to tell what he'll be like in 10 or 20 years ... exept that he'll still be a cutie. Our early talker talks a lot, too, but she hardly said a word as a teenager (go figure :eyes:).

:)

4. I said a coherent thought at 9 months.
It was about oatmeal and according to my mother and father, it went like this: "Oats, yuck, bad."

5. That's early!
Were you quiet again after that for a while, or did speech start soon after?

9 month old cuties:

I started complaining about the pulp in my orange juice!

Sure shocked my mom! ;-)

edit: Then she switched to the pulp-free kind. ;-)

10. Wow, lots of early talkers so far..
I've heard "early talk - late walk" and vise-versa, was that true for you as well?

Or it was "unremarkable" is the medical profession puts it when things are so normal as to not be worth commenting on.

Though I was always not a very physically active baby, since I have congenital heart defects.

13. According to my baby book, 6 months
I was saying Hi, Bye-Bye, Ma-ma, Da-Da, and Kit-Ke (kitty). I didn't speak in sentences until I was a year old.

16. A little bit before I turned one!
But my hubby was a late talker too. His mom was worried and took him to the doc. The doc said he is fine; he just doesn't have anything to say. Every kid is different.

18. Minus nine and a half months or so.
I remember swimming along and then telling the others "get out of the way, me first". I crashed head first into a large egg shaped object.

22. Allegedly, at 8 months.
Incidentally, my kid who does the best academically didn't start talking until he was 2. He just waited until he could do complete sentences.
